History: Amelie was the youngest pup of Saba and Jean-Claude’s litter. She was close with her family, particularly her father and her uncle Yukon. She was adopted by a young girl named Laura, and soon Amelie and Laura were attached at the hip. Despite being a dog, Amelie was Laura’s best friend. However, Amelie’s world turned upside down when Laura’s mom had a baby. All their attention was focused on the new baby boy in the house, and nobody had time for Amelie. Laura did her best to take care of her pet, but she was only a kid; she didn’t know how to properly care for a dog. So, Amelie was thrown out of the house.
Amelie was devastated to lose Laura and was terrified of living in the streets on her own. Luckily, she didn’t have to worry about freezing yet, as it was still summertime, and the nights were still warm. So, for her first night, she slept in the boiler room which was across from her old house; she would look for proper shelter the next day. But things took a turn when Laura suddenly appeared in the boiler room, promising she wouldn’t leave Amelie. So, Laura ran away from home, and she and Amelie took to the streets.
Their adventure was short lived, however. After about a week, Laura’s parents found her and took her back home…without Amelie. Amelie was once again devastated; she was sure Laura’s parents would take her back, but unfortunately, there was still no room for a dog in their house. So, Amelie continued to live out on the streets. One day, a group of strays found Amelie searching for food in an alleyway. They approached her menacingly, and the leader of the gang said, “Someone as pretty as you shouldn’t be on the streets.” Amelie knew his intentions were know good, but she had nowhere to run. She knew this gang was about to endanger her somehow, but she was cornered and had to accept her fate. But suddenly, a black husky came out of nowhere and chased the gang away. The husky, whose name was Maverick, had saved her life. Maverick offered to take Amelie to his house to get food and a bath after seeing how disgruntled Amelie looked, and when he did, Maverick’s owner offered to take in Amelie. Amelie was overjoyed to have a home again. It wasn’t what she had originally wanted, since Laura was not in the picture, but she soon realized that wherever Maverick was felt like home.
