Personality: She feels somewhat out of place in town. She is stubborn and demanding. Is also complicated, a neat-freak, enigmatic, rebellious, a rebel, somewhat irascible, and concise. To contradict this part of her personality, she can be social and gregarious, as well as kind, docile, and funny.

History: She was born in 1925 in Washington, D.C. Her owner was the White House's First Lady. Though the woman got her, the president named her. When Arlene was 1 1/2 years old, the First Lady left the White House after about a year of marital problems, and returned to her former home in Spokane in Washington state. There she fell in love with a man who turned out to be the son of the governor of Juneau, Alaska. They moved to Alaska together, taking Arlene with them. But the governor's office did not allow pets, so they had to give her away if the two were to live there together. Arlene lived with her new owner in Nenana for about a month, before the person went to visit a friend in Nome. When it was time to go back, Arlene refused, so the person left her there. Now, Arlene is a pet in the friend's home. There, she is treated as though she were still in the White House. She is groomed and brushed every day, and her tag is polished as well.
