Aurora was born to a litter of 5, from which all the other pups were adopted but she was kept as a house pet and a companion for the family's daughter. She had a rather normal and decent childhood, she and the girl became best friends. Eventually the girl grew into a young woman, Aurora grew into an adult dog and soon the time came for the girl to move away to college in a different state. Saddened by the loss of her best friend, Aurora tried socialising with the other dogs in the town, but eventually found a good friend in a goose named Boris. He turned out to be the more anxious and overprotective type, and was sure to keep unwanted admirers away from Aurora. She found this a little silly, but of course she appreciated his care. 

One night, when she couldn't sleep, Aurora decided to sneak out and go get some fresh air. Whilst walking around the town, she heard some rumbling from behind the butcher's shop, went to see what it was and discovered a large, grey wolf going through the garbage. As she was about to call for help, the wolf assured her that he wouldn't hurt her, and said that he was simply looking for something to eat. Willing to give him a chance to explain himself, Aurora learned that he was a loner, who had been kicked out of his pack, and after hearing his story, she wanted to help him. She showed him to an old ship wreck at the beach, not far from the town, and told him he could stay there. The wolf, who introdued himself as Amaruq, appreciated her gesture and help, and as he settled in the ship, Aurora snuckback home and brought him back left overs from the family's dinner. She continued to bring Amaruq food, and after a while, the two became friends, and Aurora found herself rather fond of Amaruq. He had this wild charm around him, which she found somewhat irresistible, and it wasn't long that they were falling in love. 

Knowing that both her and Amaruq would be in trouble if people found about a wolf living so close to the town, they decided to keep a low profile, and Aurora only told Boris, because she trusted him more than anyone. He wasn't at all sure Amaruq was good news, but figured that Aurora knew better herself, so eventually he just let it go.

Eventually Aurora discovered that she was pregnant, but just when she was about to tell her mate the good news, she heard yelling and screaming from outside, she looked out the window and to her horror she saw Amaruq being chased by a hunter. Aurora was about to rush after them, but Boris stopped her, saying it would be too dangerous, so she had no other choice but to watch her beloved be driven further and further towards the mountains. She waited, and waited, growing more worried by the second, and finally night turned into morning. After not getting any sleep at all, Aurora stepped outside, when an old dog, by the name of Doc, walked up to her, sighing heavily, and told her that Amaruq had been shot to dead. Aurora collapsed in the ground, breaking into tears, and Boris promised Doc that he would look after her, and took her inside. She fell into a deep depression after Amaruq's death, and just couldn't be happy about expecting pups, but finally, when they were born, with Boris's help she finally got a grip, and started to get her joy of life back. She loved all her pups with all her heart, and  realized that Amaruq would live through their children always.
