Inka was born with 3 brothers, and being the only girl, she quickly learned how to stand up for herself and how to be independent. While her two older brothers were adopted, she and her youngest brother Balto remained in their mother's house and she became a house pet like Aurora. Balto was somewhat of a runt of the bunch, and Inka and their oldest brother Elias often had to defende him against bullies. 

Inka had  a rather peaceful and normal childhood, and grew up into a beautiful adult dog. Just like her mother, she became the target of affection of the young dogs of Nome, but she wasn't interested in romance, she was more into exploring and looking for adventures. Inka always had a close bond with her family, even though she and Elias often bickered about whatever reasons. 

As they were old enough, their mother decided that it was time to reveal the truth about their father. Inka was shocked to learn that her father had been a wolf, who they never got to meet because he had been killed by a hunter before they were born. Inka had strongly mixed feeling about revealing, in a way she was dissapointed at her mother that she had been hiding this from them, but on the other hand she couldn't help but wonder how her father had been like, and if he were still alive, could she have met him some day. Eventually though, Inka forgave her mother, and learned to accept her wolf heritage, realizing it didn't really change her life at all.
