Description

Detail Chris (FC35)

Name: Chris

Gender: Male

Species: Dog (50% Siberian Husky, 50% Border Collie)

Age: 1 ½ years by Balto III

Basic traits: Competitive, spontaneous, flippant, unpredictable, sensual, blunt

Likes: Solitude, physical activity, blunt humor, poking fun at anyone he's around.

Dislkes: Ineptitude, repeated sayings, those who demand respect, those who assume Chris to lack concern, and the easily-offended

Friends: Not many, and Chris really isn't  friends with the sled dogs, especially post-Balto III

Enimies: None either.

Mate: None, but had mated with Nat once at around 2 1/2 years of age.

Prodgeny: 1 surviving son (Nicholas)

Personality: Chris is a dog defined by a distinct personality contrast. When relaxed, he is a rational, sedate, and silent, however, when stressed or excited, all three traits go out the window and he becomes visually impulsive and excitable. He’s not fond of large crowds, especially when nobody he knows is in that crowd. He has athletic and working potential, however, he requires extreme motivation and a good enough reason to do such, and to those unwilling to provide such motivation or reason, he can seem lazy. Chris generally lacks an emotional connection to things and people, and in turn, fails to be able to produce heartfelt sympathy, even when Chris has experienced the same circumstance. His lack of expression, paired with an inability to think long term also makes relationships tough for him, leading to a tendency to have one-night-stands. He is also very sarcastic and humor-centric, and will crack a joke during any situation, no matter the seriousness of the situation.

Bio: In his early days, Chris was a pup who would’ve been stressful to own. His unwillingness to socialize, plus his tendency to exert his energy tearing up household possessions such as the furniture made life tough for his owners. With his unpredictability added onto this, his owners couldn’t handle owning him much longer. His owners tried to train him to be calmer, to no result, so he was put up for sale. At first, everyone who knew about him overlooked him because of his unpredictability, but one day, a musher looking for future sled dogs noticed Chris’ high energy. The musher, thinking that Chris’s high energy would be useful for runs, adopted him immediately.

When the musher took Chris to where he kept his dogs, Chris met a number of dogs who were also slated to become sled dogs, including Dusty, Ralph, Kodi, and Kirby. Chris didn’t take much interest into any of them until he overheard a conversation between the three. From there, he began to become friends with them, although he wasn’t particularly fond of Kodi’s work-then-play attitude, which contradicted Chris rest-till-needed attitude. In training however, Chris seemed like a different dog, as he gave it his all, revealing to Mr. Simpson his short stamina. When it came time for Mr. Simpson to select his sled dogs, Chris was held back for further stamina building. When Chris’s stamina was up to par, he was set to replace an outgoing dog for another team ram by a musher Mr. Simpson was friends with.

For about half a year, Chris worked as a sled dog, bringing a brand of still-youthful energy to the team. His youthful energy, with his self-competitiveness and brand of humor, helped improve run times, and his teammates as well as his musher saw him as a useful contribution to the team. However, during a sled run, Chris was hit by one of his teammates who was trying avoid a hazard. The impact threw Chris off- balance, and Chris was thrown into an incredibly awkward position, which broke his right front leg. Chris had his leg repaired and was put on leave for half a year for recovery and rehabilitation. When Chris was readmitted back onto the team, his return was cut short by another incident, where a misstep made by Chris led to his leg being broken yet again. Chris was returned to Mr. Simpson, who decided to retire Chris for fear of further injury and returned him to his former owners.

Since Chris was retired, Chris’s personality changed drastically. Since the prospect of becoming a sled dog again, Chris’ sole adult motivation to do anything, was no longer viable, Chris became rather dormant, much to the surprise and eventual dismay of his owners, who came to miss Chris’ energetic self.
