Personality: He used to be quite good-natured and flirty but his temper grew and he became bitter and depressed. Gradually, he is starting to become happier again. He is a brave soul who would fight to the death for those he loves.

History. He was born in Germany and so speaks with a German accent. He was just a pup when he met Ilse and they grew up together as good friends. As they became adults, they fell in love and became mates. He had a happy life and he was popular there but unfortunately his mate took ill and died. He became depressed and withdrew from his happy life and spent his time mourning the loss of his mate.

The family he lives with then moved to Nome. Not long after they take in a stray and call her Sunnie. At first he doesn't like how cheerful she is but he learns of all she had been through, fending for herself on the streets when she was abandoned. He begins to admire how she faces her problems and gradually falls in love with her.

When Sunnie's father comes back because he feels guilty and wants to look after her, Klaus gets angry and attacks him. In his fury, he kills Cruise. Although Sunnie never really knew her father, she is angry at Klaus and doesn't talk to him. Eventually, after much apologizing from Klaus, they make up and become mates.
