History: Missy was born in the town of Alberta, Canada. Her owners were wealthy people. When she was a year old, the family emigrated to Alaska, to be with their relatives. Their new hometown was called Koyuk. Missy disliked the town. Nobody liked her because of this.

A year later, her father became Head Dog of Koyuk and made Missy his successor.

Missy stood alongside her father to judge the Trail Run Race which Vallcon, his family, Steele, Balto and his family had all entered. Missy and her father welcomed the teams, and invited all three of the leaders (Steele being one, Balto another) to a special Welcoming Meeting. Seeing that so many wolf-dogs were entering for Koyuk and Nome, Missy hoped that Steele's team (made up mostly of pure breeds like herself) would win the race.

During the whole Run, she and Ragnel kept in range of the telegrapher's office, for any reports about the three teams.
