Personality in general: Shadow is a bit egotistical and thinks of himself as a "wolf with a noble cause". He could care less about making a pack, but he does harbor feelings for Aniu- that changed when she had Balto, and since has vowed to hate all dogs, feeling broken hearted and betrayed. He wanders alone and tries to avoid packs, unless he should come across another loner like himself. He likes being feared and has a large vocabulary, but isn't all as intimidating as he wants to be. He's so full of himself that he often refers to himself in third-person, commonly as "Shadow the Great".

History/Bio:
Shadow grew up with the aid of Nava, after finding the pup alone with no mother or father. Nava was more of a friend to him than a father, and Shadow was greatful for his rescue. However, he didn't seem to get along with the other pups, spare for gentle Aniu. He shared a rivalry with Niju, and the two would often get into fights. On the other hand, Aniu was the only one who seemed to calm his temper and ego, and strangely enough the two became friends. Aniu tried to share with him her knowledge, and in return Shadow helped her find self-confidence and in a strange way, bravery.

After Aniu left, and after finding out she was with a dog, of all things, Shadow was infuriated. He vowed he would hate all dogs, regardless and he grew to have a strong, bitter heart. He left the pack, despite Nava's protests, and set out for himself to stay on his own. He had no concern finding a new pack or another wolf to start over, and over time began to think himself more superior than other wolves. To shadow, all of Alaska is his backyard and everything is his. He doesn't care for anyone, although time to time his heart still aches thinking about Aniu.

For now he continues to wander the uncharted forest miles away from Nome.

Relation to Balto: He was raised by Nava and Aniu was his childhood friend.
