How (s)he's related to Balto: Was a random wolf in Nava's pack. At at some point was Niju's mate.

Other: Was a member of Nava's pack. When Nava was officially infertile due to old age, Niju saw it fit that the strongest male of the group have heirs. So he chose Kateri (Wit) to be his mate. Since she was the omega of the group, she felt that she had to, since he was of a higher rank. So she consulted.

She had two sons, Faolan and Lizar, but Nava took them away from her because he simply did not want Niju to raise them, and Kateri was the omega after all. Either way, she was ashamed she disobeyed her alpha and left her sons behind while they were still young. She travelled as a lone wolf and changed her name to simply Wit.

Not much is known to Jerome about Wit's past. Just that she was a lone wolf and was found by Jerome, who needed a mate, since their pack was full of males.

They only but tolerated each other. Wit pretty much used the pack for protection and shelter and food, but as long as she listened to Jerome, she could stay.

 As they went on, she gained more power and respect as alpha female, and liked it. Wit and Jerome lost their first litter completely. One died at birth and their only son, named Shin, was separated from his mother. Wit claimed she lost him, but Jerome thinks she did it on purpose (and its more than likely true because at this point she didn't want anymore sons). She thought Shin was going to be nothing but a failure anyway.

So they had another litter. Last time it was two boys. This time it was two girls. The youngest was Kayiya, and favored. Their first daughter, Kita was pretty much ignored or otherwise scolded. When Wit and Jerome died of natural causes, they left the alpha position to Kayiya.
