Relation to Balto: His son and lives in Nome
Personality: Yukon is very dedicated to a task that he is given. He is very much like his father with his personality. He can set his mind to something very easily and rarely gives up on a quest. Although sometimes he can be very insecure about himself, putting himself down, not believing himself possible to face the truth or accomplish a task he believes is impossible. On the other hand, he is very anti-war, and believes violence is never the answer. He will only fight when he is forced to, or when he is protecting something or someone. He can be caring and happy at times, but very shy when it comes to girls.
Physical Traits / Appearance: Yukon is the red-faced pup in Jenna and Balto's litter. He has dark red legs, stomach, chest, tail and face. His underbelly, muzzle and chest are a white creamy colour. Yukon is often seen wearing a blue bandana. He has a scratch on his side from when he was caught in a bear attack when he was young. He is relatively strong, and can put up a fight for as long as needed. However he and Kodi were the runts of the litter, but with some help and encouragement from his father he overcame his natural weaknesses.
Biography: Born in December 1925 to Balto and Jenna, Yukon had a very happy puppyhood. He got on very well with his siblings and loved his family. He was adopted aged 8 weeks by a carpenter's family. He nearly died in a bear attack when he was 5 months old, with his father saving him. For the next 18 dog years of his life, he lived peacefully in Nome with both families.
In Spring 1928, Yukon was forced onto the streets when his owners ran out of money to look after him. He lived as a stray for a while, with some support from his loved ones. During his strayhood, he met the new husky Layla, and immediately fell for her. They became a couple and within weeks of meeting each other, Layla was pregnant. Yukon knew that if he was going to be a good father, he would need a job.
After failing at a few, Kodi helped him get a job sledding, all Yukon had to do was complete one mail run. He had little faith in himself at first, but his family encouraged him well. All was well until a fierce blizzard kicked in. In a sudden gust, the team were blown towards a cliff. The dogs were ordered to jump out of their harnesses, but Yukon got tangled up in his harness and slipped. Balto, who was with the team, tried to save his son, but Yukon fell down the cliff. He survived, but broke almost every bone in his body, and passed out from his injuries.
The team sadly returned to Nome and Yukon was declared dead. Layla was heartbroken to find she would be raising her pups alone, as the whole town went into mourning. However, Yukon survived the fall, and was adopted and nursed to health by a friendly wolf named Drake. Yukon, although healthy again, didn't want to return to Nome, to face the conspiracies that he was dead. Drake taught him the ways of the lone wolf, and Yukon began to take a lean towards a wild life, far away from Nome and his family.
But what Drake was actually doing, was slowly hypnotising him into attacking Nome. Drake seriously despised of humans and civilisation and was planning to raise a force to attack the town. Yukon didn't notice this, until one night.
Back in Nome, Balto, feeling that he was responsible for his son's death, sneaked alone into the woods one day, to howl an apology. Yukon and Drake were having howling practise at the same time. Yukon heard his father's howls, and answered. But Drake quickly took Yukon back into the cave to not arouse suspicion. Balto, after hearing Yukon's howl, ran back to Nome to spread the news, although no-one believed him. Balto left alone on a rescue mission, but Kodi soon secretly followed after.
The next day, Yukon, realising how much he was being missed, decided to go back to Nome and return to his life. But Drake got angry with his decision, and to make sure he didn't escape, tied Yukon up as hostage, vowing he would eventually kill him. He started to hit and torture Yukon for 'betraying' him.
Soon, Drake heard someone coming, and hid in the shadows. Balto rushed into the cave, Yukon tried to warn him of the danger, but he was muffled. Drake approached Balto from behind and knocked him out. Seeing that Yukon's friends were out to rescue him, Drake decided to kill him right away.
He dragged Yukon to a clearing, still tied up. Just as he was about to stab him, Kodi came and started wrestling Drake. Kodi was easily overwhelmed by the huge wolf, and as Drake was about to kill Kodi, Balto attacked. In the ensuing fight, they came to a slope, where the commotion started an avalanche. Drake was sucked into the surge of snow, dragging Yukon down with him.
When the avalanche stopped, Kodi pulled out Yukon's body. But he woke up later, and after an emotional reunion, the three of them made their way home to a huge welcome. Yukon found out that his pups had been born minutes before he arrived back home.
