A lot of people here like making characters who are pups of Aleu and Niju, Kodi and Dusty etc. Those pairings are NOT canon. It is possible but it must be explained somehow how the two became mates/had pups (either with an explanation in the bio or link to a fanfiction). Non explained pairing kids will be seen as AU and will not be allowed.
You can ship whoever you want, but following the "DO NOT change the events that happened in an explicit way in the movies" as written in the rules, instead of writing "he's the son of Jenna and Kaltag" like it was something obvious, just include a short explanation like "Jenna broke up with Balto and became mates with Kaltag". That's perfectly enough.
The only official Balto pairings are Balto and Jenna, Boris and Stella and Ralph and Dusty (yes, it's canon and confirmed. Check the interviews with Balto 3 director).
I'd also like to remind you that character rules are more important than character tags. even if there is "not Balto related" tag, it is outdated and unrelated characters are not allowed anymore.

And, yes, this does limit things as far as creativity goes, yet again.
Which begs the question, what's wrong with non canon pairings and offspring for that pairing? But would AU characters/pairings only be acceptable for fanfics? Why have them for fanfics outright, but not for fan character creation, even if such things are explained in the bios? Sure they don't happen in the movies, but the movies can only do so much.

Also, I think that your new rules on such characters are now confused. If someone makes a character that's the child of [insert Balto character here] and [insert Balto character here] and it's not one of the canonial ships of the trilogy, I feel that it should be allowed as an AU sort of character.
Also, what about second litters? It's never stated that some characters had more pups, so shouldn't they be given the same harsh treatment as well?
