CONTEST PURPOSE:

According to the website "Know Your Meme", Rule 63 is an anonymously-made "Rule of the Internet" that states this: "For every given male character, there is a female version of that character. For every given female character, there is a male version of that character."

This contest is mainly created to give Balto Source members and fans of the series the chance to give the cast of the original Balto movie and the two sequels - "Wolf Quest" and "Wings of Change" - their genderswapped opposites in their own creative way.

And besides, I'm sure we've all wanted to see our favorite wolfdogs, huskies, geese and humans in the other gender at one time or another, right?

HOW TO ENTER:

Balto Source members that choose to join this contest have to draw or render any official character from the Balto trilogy of movies in the opposite gender. For example, Boris would become female and Stella would become male in any entries here. 

Genderswapped names are not necessary, but are highly welcomed [for example: A female name for Balto that I thought up was Baltine [which I used for one of Aleu's daughters with Niju actually]... but I'm sure YOU can think up something better!] as long as all genderswapped names are still PG-appropriate.

There are three categories for the contest:

• Best Solo Genderswap - Entries must be of one official Balto character only. No other characters must be in it or it counts as a group or a scene.

• Best Genderswap Group - Any entry with more than one official Balto characters that's not an official movie scene counts as a group entry. Couples are allowed in this category, and this includes any non-canon pairings and friendships. 

• Best Genderswap Scene - Take any screencapped scene from the movies and simply swap the genders of the characters in it - it's that simple! Like the others, only official Balto characters count.

IMPORTANT RULES:

PLEASE - Be sure to put either Solo, Group, or Scene at the beginning of the filename of your entries, based on what category they belong in. This makes it easier to tell the entries apart for sorting them in the judging process. 

Also, every member that joins the contest is allowed one (1) entry per category - that means you can have up to three (3) entries in the contest. I would allow more than one entry in each category, but I want this to be a fair contest so that everyone has a fair shot for one of the prizes available in each category.

Also-also, be sure to put your Balto Source username on your entry somewhere, like a signature. Make sure it's readable so that we know who created the entry! Same goes for any lineart credits!

WHAT'S NOT ALLOWED:

• OCs [Original Characters] and fursonas are not allowed in any entries. This is a Balto series contest, so only official Balto characters will be allowed in entries.

• Since we are talking about official Balto characters, I haven't thought about what to do about the unnamed puppies of Balto and Jenna's litter in "Wolf Quest". Since Dingo and Saba are named in the film, I will count them as official characters as long as they are based on the first adopted pup [Dingo; he also was the pup that pounced on Aleu after she was told to stop howling in the box] and the blue-eyed obviously-female pup that talks to Balto before the adoption starts [Saba]. The other two pups, unfortunately, will not count as official Balto characters in this contest because we do not know what gender they actually are. Sorry about that!

• No stealing anyone's art or lineart for fanart and render entries. It's stealing, of course, so you should know better than to do that for a contest! If you choose to use a lineart, please credit the original line-artist in your work near your signature.

• Bad quality entries are not allowed. When I say "bad quality", I mostly mean renders that have less to no effort put into them. Fanart can be of bad quality too, but everyone has a different style and way of drawing. Still, be sure to take time with your entries and make them count! 

• Any of the other "Not-Allowed"s when it comes to fanart and rendered fan-images that haven't been specifically mentioned yet are not allowed in entries [specifically the R-rated sexy stuff, as well as the blood and gore/violence stuff; there are others, but this is mostly a fanart/fan-image contest so keep it as such!].

• If there's any other "Not-Allowed"s that I may have forgotten about, I will add them here. Feel free to ask questions in the comments too. 

• If any entries have broken any of these rules, they will be disqualified. The enterer will not be able to enter a replacement entry for any disqualified entries they may have. 

JUDGING CRITERIA:

Entries will be judged on the following criteria:

• Creativity - Be creative with your designs! Remember that it still has to be like the original character but the opposite gender, but that doesn't mean you can't be creative about it!

• Style - It may be hard to make an official character into something original, but be sure to use some style. It doesn't have to be in the movie's style as it's okay to use your own personal style [realism, anime-esque, cartoony, etc.] to make the characters the opposite gender.

• Effort - It doesn't have to be extremely detailed, but please put some effort into your entries! Color and some basic details like markings are necessary, but shadows and other nit-picky details are optional.

PRIZES:

Prizes will be given out to the best in three main categories - Best Solo Genderswap, Best Genderswap Group, and Best Genderswap Scene.

The prizes are as follows:

Solo Genderswap:

• - One (1) colored solo character drawing [from Juuchan17]
• - One (1) solo character render [prize donated by Zilch; prize can also be a simple character reference render, if the winner wishes]

Genderswap Group:

• - One (1) colored two character drawing [from Juuchan17; can be a couple but as long as it's two characters, it's fine]
• - One (1) small group render of 1 to 3 characters [prize donated by Zilch]

Genderswap Scene:

• - One (1) colored small group drawing [from Juuchan17; can have from 1 to 3 characters]
• - One (1) group render of 2 to 4 characters [prize donated by Zilch]

More detailed prizes will be added soon - please keep an eye out for them!  

DEADLINE & CLOSING REMARKS:

Deadline for all entries is September 1, 2014. UPDATE [8/26/14]: The entry deadline has been extended for an extra week! You now have until September 8, 2014 to submit your genderswap entries! 

The contest will be closed starting on 9/9 and the winners will be announced by the end of September 2014.

From what I understood solo is for one character and group is for non-canon scenes and couples. Anyways, here's my entry for Solo Genderswap. Nina, the evil she-wolf from Nava's pack. I tweaked the original design a little but you can still see who that is xD

Troll: Actually, it'd be more of a Solo Genderswap, mainly because Kodi isn't genderswapped also, but... since I didn't state that all of the characters had to be genderswapped in a Group entry, I suppose it still works. I'll allow it since I never specified the details, so you don't have to change anything with your submitted entry. Also, I like the alternate-marked "Kate" too - reminds me of Kaltag. XD At least it's a G-rated ship for these two, given all of Internet fans there are for them! Thanks for your entry! - Juuchan17

Troll: Ah... Well, I'd say as long as it clearly looks like the character it's genderswapping, it should be okay, although I'd probably prefer it to keep the same markings since that is what makes the character look like the character in question [although I'm curious to see the altered-marked version too - I'm gonna check it out!]. I hope that clears things up! Angel: Yes, you should! I'm actually extending the deadline to September 8th, so that should give you lots of time to make a couple of entries! - Juuchan17

I mean markings. I made my entry with female Kirby but I altered her markigns. It's in my image gallery. If I can't alter the markings then I'll edit the file with original Kirby's markings and submit it to your contest.
