The box offices are buzzing lately, especially with the release of Big Hero 6, which so far has brought in a whopping $36 million just last weekend, and over $100 million in just the second week of its showing. World-wide, the movie has grossed $148 million.

The film is based off of the original Marvel Comics issues. Big Hero 6 was originally supposed to be introduced in December of 1988 in the issue Alpha Flight #17, but instead starred in its own comic in September of the same year. The comic tell the story of a group of super heros recruited by the Japanese government to be trained as super human operatives.

According to The Washington Post, ticket sales for this upcoming weekend are predicted to be about $36 million, ranking number two on their list of predictions. At the moment, Dumb and Dumber To takes their number one spot. The movie, so far, however seems to be a fan favorite, and has gotten mostly positive reviews from the online critics: Rotten Tomatoes (89% positively reviewed), Metacritic (75% positively reviewed), and IMBd (8.4/10).

In other news, a Peanuts movie has been scheduled for release by November 6th of next year. Instead of the well-known hand drawn style that we all have come to love of the Peanuts, this movie will be CGI animated. However, the movie appears to do well to keep the familiar style. Only time will tell how it will do, for now we’ll play the waiting game.
