Mr. Weinstein:
To begin, I must say that it is an honor to ask someone like you a question about the continuation of a movie I've loved since I was about 8 or 9... and even moreso because one of them [Wolf Quest] is my all-time favorite of the Balto trilogy.
Obviously, my question - or actually, questions - focuses on "Balto II: Wolf Quest": As a fan that has written an unoffiical fan-transcript of the film, I noticed some things that felt really rushed. It seemed that Aleu hated her wolf heritage instantly upon learning about it from her father and then in the matter of days [or some unknown time period - how long was that meant to be exactly?], she seemed to want to fully embrace her wolf side and lead a wolf pack, despite not having any real experience as a wolf or real defensive skills.
So, my questions are as such:
- About how long was Aleu's run-away trip until Balto met up with her and the "inner-knowing"[aka Aniu]-bear? Really, my guess is just a day and a half, but... movie-montage time seems to be different than real-life time.
- Honestly, why was Aleu actually the "one who is wolf but does not know" that Nava was told about from Aniu? I understand that both she and Balto do fit the bill, but again, Aleu is the obvious weaker of the two wolfdogs, despite actually wanting her father to care about the fate of the wolves after understanding their plight. She fails hard at fighting and defending herself, but she did have a spiritual journey that may have led her to this conclusion... but didn't Balto learn about himself as well along the way? His main gripes about revealing the truth to Aleu was because he still felt ashamed about the wolf half of himself and the fact that he felt different and didn't want her to feel different either. Still, why in the end was Aleu's destiny meant for the wolves?
...Actually, there's one other question [no, I lied - there's another one to go with that one]: Why did Balto suddenly change his mind about leading the clan, only hours after telling Aleu that they were going to leave first thing in the morning? And why didn't he just stay with the wolves if he really got passionate about crossing the bridge and "choosing life" by following the caribou? He didn't have to save Aleu, but he did anyway... even after guiding the pack onto a loose ice floe.
Thank you so much for answering, if you actually get the chance to answer!
