White Memories

Steele has a hate for wolves, obviously, but how does he know of Balto's mother? How does he know SHE was the wolf and not his father? Maybe something happened in the past that no one knew of...

Enjoy!

I made a tutorial for those who have any questions about how I render

I need to make a tutorial one day xD This is definitely a FAQ. I do NOT use textures, and everything is done in Photoshop CS2

Here are steps I use for rendering:

1. Hand draw the lineart - I don't normally use the pen tool because then it looks like a Balto 2 screenshot. I also don't use pixels or the pencil tool because... No movie looks like that. Everything is hand drawn with my tablet.

2. Colors - I color the character normally. When I'm done I go to Filter - Noise - Add Noise. ONLY for the color, not the lineart. This gives the character that grainy look since the characters aren't one solid color in the movies.

3. Finishing lineart - I then make the lineart a greyish color and set the layer to "Multiply". This makes the lineart match the color it is surrounding so it's not solid black.

4. Merge - Merge the lineart and the color layers together.

5. Matching background - If the character is in a dark lighted background (Like this one), I make a new layer, fill it with a dull blue (for night), set that layer to multiple (Make sure it's only covering the character. This can be done by holding Ctrl - Alt - G), then lower the opacity till it looks pretty decent.

6. Draw snow - This part is easy. Just look off any snowy screenshot to get an idea of how animators draw the snow under the characters paws. Solid color, a bit of shading, and a slightly darker lineart.

7. Saving - I DO save my images as a JPEG. This helps make the character blend in with the low quality screenshot. Now you're done!

I hope this helps everyone!

Singapaw: Thats what I thought, but I'm hoping there is another way because I save as a .png for better quality

Alpha; I'm guessing she saves it as a JPEG or something. That would make it fit in, it makes it more pixeled. But that's just a guess (:
