On just meeting him, Paul might seem shy and unsure, but if treated well he’ll open up to you and be a loyal friend. He doesn’t have a very strong personality, and if confronted will try to back out and leave. He’s funny and likes joking around with his closest friends, and is chivalrous to a fault (especially when it comes to does). All in all, Paul is just a big sweetheart who needs a little coaxing if you want him to come out of his shell.

History:

Paul was born the eldest of twins along with his sister Anna Katharina in early spring. Soon after his birth Faline noticed that her son was very small, and because of this named him Paul. As her own late brother was very small and frail himself, Faline immediately took to babying him and never letting him out of her sight. After awhile of not growing very much, the young prince began to become aware that he was abnormally small and because of this became shy and insecure, mostly coming to depend on his mother. One evening, a great stag whom Paul and his sister had never seen before came to visit them. He acted very friendly with their mother, thereby earning their trust. Faline introduced the children to their father, and Paul was immediately enamored with him. Bambi; to Paul, came to symbolize everything a stag could ever hope to be, and Bambi became a role model to his young son. Every time Bambi came to see them, Paul gradually began to come out of his shell and even tagged along with his father and often his brother, earning him the nickname “Tagalong” from Geno. Months passed, and Paul and his sister experienced their first taste of a hard winter- and tree bark, which they soon learned to hate the taste of. Many animals did not survive the winter, and Faline became increasingly worried that her small young son would not live to see the end of it either. But the little family survived and soon enough, spring was upon them. Paul was now sporting what would eventually become antlers, and he was very proud of himself. Now that Paul was growing up, he was more free to spend time with his father and brother and go his own way. One day in autumn, when the rut was just beginning, Paul decided to go and look for some acorns (which he was always craving). As he reached the edge of the trees, a faint noise reached his ears. It was a sweet, enticing noise which he decided to trail and hopefully get closer to. Soon he was walking fast and carelessly through the brush, the noise sounding clearer and louder now. All of a sudden a great stag bounded in front of Paul’s path- it was his father. He warned that if he went further, he would surely die. Paul was confused, but heeded his father’s words and in doing so was saved from being lured by Man’s call. After this incident Paul was much more careful not to go crashing through the bushes after strange noises, and decided to seek protection in a bachelor group. It was easier said than done, though, as he was quickly and harshly turned away by most due to his stature and shy demeanor. Paul felt dejected at first, but on his sister’s advice tried to be more outgoing, and soon he had a small group of friends. The next spring, Paul was fully independent and becoming more sure of himself. He was even able to spar with Geno and win on occasion. When word started to spread of the young prince’s prowess, some of the older bucks started respecting him and quit teasing him, and he became quite sociable. One day Paul and his group were walking to a clearing when they spotted a large, dark stag a ways off. The other bucks became afraid that they'd be noticed, but Paul walked into the clearing to greet him. His friends thought he was crazy and they took off running at great speed while the young prince casually made his way over to the stranger. The stag, whose name was Ronno, was impressed by the young buck's courage and they started talking. They met for a few days after at the same little clearing, and before long Paul had found his own little place in the forest- the Golden Antlers Herd. At this time, Paul is enjoying life in the herd but wants to find a good mate.
