Have an issue with overweight characters, do you? Anyway, that comes down to poor design work on the part of the artists. The character is not intended to be overweight. leenafuturequeen wrote: aleu is pretty, smart, and epic "Epic". Curious. Exactly how is she "epic"? She comes off like a selfish, emotionally-immature little brat. Hardly an epic character in any way, shape or form. This. And Dusty's not the greatest character, but I'd take her over Aleu any day.

Dusty is "refined and mature" because, as far as we can tell from the movie, she's an older and more experienced sled dog (at least a little older than Kodi, but still older than we see Aleu). Most of Aleu's supposed immaturity came from her self-denial over finally figuring out her heritage. The rest comes from her personality, which just happens to be one of the negative attributes to her character.
It's one of the reasons I prefer Aleu--we get to see a lot of her personality, which exposes her flaws. So you could say I like her because of her flaws.

Though I do enjoy seeing characters with flaws or quirks of one kind or another (AND do like heroic characters like Balto who has few flaws or quirks, which I still think is good writing), a bratty character is just an irritation. And Aleu was very much that throughout most of the movie. Even her cornball giggling and half-heartedly shouting "WOO HOO!" when she was playing with Muk and Luk got on my nerves.

Maybe that was the director's/producers' way of developing her personality as the fun-loving pup she was before her life was turned around. She was just in it for the fun--to play games and play. This is one of the reasons her personality changes so drastically. Angel Dreamer wrote: I prefer matured characters...younger ones are really annoying to me xD To be honest, so do I, but I like to have the "cute little kiddy" thrown in once in a while. It gets too monotonous with a bunch of completely mature characters. I feel that it's easier to spot the flaws in young characters, which makes the character in question easier to understand and relate with.

It would be kinda boring with a bunch of wise old characters, it's nice to have a young protagonist too, but one that is flawed but still LIKEABLE would be nice. xD

I guess it just all depends on what qualities you like in a character: I happen to really like Aleu; your opinion obviously differs. XD

It's what we have to do, I guess. With so many people in this site hating her, I seem to be in the vast minority. So yeah, agree to disagree. XD

Never really put any thought to this.
We don't really get to know very much about Dusty. But I suppose to those who hate Aleu because we know too much about her, that's a good thing...
I prefer Aleu I guess.

I do think we can agree that Dusty is a LOT less whiny than Aleu. Despite Dusty's slight stubbornness, I prefer Dusty over Aleu. But if this was over who is prettier, then I'd go for Aleu.

Okay, we really cannot prefer one character over the other simply because we see Aleu DURING her bratty teenage phase and we see Dusty AFTER it.
That's really not fair.
