Hi, I wanted to ask a question about Talespin!
Well after watching Baloo's attempt with asking out Katie in "from whom the bell klangs" I was wondering if Baloo actually got a partner in any of the episodes. I havn't watched enough of the episodes to know yet. It'd be sweet if Baloo and Rebecca liked eachother but I've heard that Baloo is partners with a character called Myra. So does anyone know? xD

I don't think Baloo ever has any official partner in the series. It is strongly hinted that he and Rebecca are interested in each other. Baloo and Myra never really show any interest in each other... I'm not sure what that one poster was talking about.....

Jymn Magon (creator of the series) pretty much answered this :

/talespin ... &nump=1338

Quote:
No revelation here... Baloo & Becky were fashioned after Sam & Rebecca from the (then) popular sitcom "Cheers." Baloo loses his business and winds up working for a woman who lacks his knowledge and experience, but who (as his boss) harps on his careless ways. Sound familiar? It was a good dynamic - plus we had the added bonus of the two of them watching over Kit... one the caring Mom and one the careless Dad.

So, yes, there was supposed to be a love/hate relationship with Baloo & Becky. I thought there was pretty much equal evidence that they secretly cared for each other, but maybe it wound up lopsided in Becky's favor. (Like I said, it was hard to oversee so many scripts.) Baloo was a fairly careless character in Jungle Book, so we kept that quality in TS.

Of course, we could never let that relationship come to fruition. (It's a series, folks!) It's what destroyed the Sam/Diane relationship.

Jymn

If the series had gone on longer, maybe we could have seen some romance between the two...
But even with the canon episodes, it's clear that at least Rebecca has a soft spot for Baloo.

I agree. I read recently an old topic on the Acorn Café where the members were saying that they didn't seem interested in each other. To me they very much overlooked the characters reactions and personalities when watching it, because when you read behind the lines, it's very clear they're attracted to each other (Becky even admits it in Last Horizons!) Jymn already confirmed that several times!
Of course you need to do something that you don't expect in a cartoon like this, reading behind the lines...

Yeah! and I betcha the ones that say that are the ones that over look Dale and Gadget's potential as being a couple. But of course save this for post for another forum. heh

Jymn Magon confirmed their love interest for each other. It's difficult to deny what the official creator of the series says :P

To answer the original question, I don't think Baloo ever had something of a romantical partner.

I don't know about others, but to me it was always crystal clear that Baloo and Becky have feelings for each other. Perhaps the German version is at fault, though I don't remember anything more than subtle hints.

... I also saw something between Becky and Don Karnage, though, so perhaps my opinion is questionable. :) I shouldn't post when I'm super tired or at work anymore, darn.
