I was on iTunes on my iPod looking at the Balto movies. And they had the 3rd one in HD. The first and second weren't. I'd also noticed that exact same thing on my playstation on the playstation store. I'd think maybe from that. Universal will release the 3rd on blu-ray but probuly not. I don't know what it looks like in HD from iTunes or Playstation. Because I already own it on DVD. So what does it look like in HD?

I don't like Balto 3 to begin with, but I had no clue that they even had all three Balto movies on there. I don't know what it looks like in HD, but it's cool that Itunes has the Balto movies.

Well, I can confirm iTunes is selling Balto 3 in HD, but when I tried to purchase the movie, Visa dropped the Ball. I can't get the movie right now. If someone else has obtained it, please share some screenshots.

I'm not sure that I would call this a "HD" version of the film, as it's in the 4:3 aspect ratio.

Here are some screenshots anyway.

Thank you for the pictures. There's other stuff in HD and bluray I've seen that was in full screen. The older animated disney movies are that way. I can tell that it looks better in HD.

Unless there is something I'm not understanding, I don't see how something that's 4:3 can be HD. I won't lie, I can see a difference in picture quality here, but HD is usually 16:9.

It wasn't a bad buy but at all, but I'm just a bit confused and disappointed. I was expecting a wide screen aspect ratio, not a full screen one.

Because Balto 3 is natively made in 4:3 ratio. Because it was orignally made for DVD and that time most tvs were still full screen. If its HD it doesn't mean it will automatically it will be widescreen. That's the way it seems like but not always.Older movies and tv shows in HD are full screen because that's what their made in.

Huh, that's interesting. I thought that the region 2 version was widescreen (I looked this up on Google), as the screenshots on the site are widescreen.

I guess I need to do some research on aspect ratios. I always thought that, in order for a film to be HD, it needs to be 16:9.

I didn't know that Balto 3 was in widescreen. In America if you are an American and know this that none of the Balto movies are widescreen. 2 and 3 I can see why. But the 1st one I think is stupid. Because when it came in theaters it was widescreen. Also the reason why you think if its HD it has too be widescreen because HD and bluray could hold more and have better picture and sound then DVD and VHS.
