I would like to announce to you all that Balto's True Story, my website encompassing a thorough look at the true history of the 1925 Nome, Alaska serum run, is back up after a long and unfortunate hiatus! Unfortunately, I have been forced to go with a new domain name, as the other was unceremoniously hijacked by a cybersquatter located somewhere in England, using GoDaddy. And my web host, who provided the original domain name, refused to do anything to help me. It's been a long and frustrating experience for me, due to money issues with the bad economy, troubles from one or two malcontents who constantly troll me and argue with me over the information I have put on my website and on here (most of that trolling which has been utterly debunked by other knowledgeable people, and experts, in the field when I contacted them asking for help clarifying certain historical points), and so on. And it's been shown time and again that their arguments are meritless. However, that aside, at long last the wait for the return of Balto's True Story is over! I have purchased a new domain name, which is very similar to the first one. The new domain is http://www.baltostruestory.net It should be up and running within twenty four hours of this e-mail (time for the dns servers to transfer the linkage and post). Of course, from there, I will begin the slow, laborious process of updating it after so long not doing so. Rest assured, within twenty four hours or so, you should be able to view the site again! Please bookmark it and be sure to visit! Thanks!

Congrats, a .net domain too, nice. When it's up, if it isn't already, Steet should add it to the links on the main site. (Unless you don't want it lol)

Well, if steet would be willing to add the link, I'd be happy to see it up here. But that's up to him I suppose. Tibbeh wrote: I wondered what had happened to the other website... That's unfortunate. I am glad you have a new one up and running again, though. :] Goodness knows there's enough websites out there for the cartoon, and not nearly enough information (all in one nice spot) for the real thing! Will be sure to visit when it's all ready to go. Yeah, it was a bit of a mess. And my website host was of no help at all. But at least I'm back up and running again, and I even have others in the field of historical research wanting to contribute! Aaaand I have at least one offer from one canine magazine to do an article (possibly)! Quite a bit of kudos coming my way, which is a substantially wonderful thing! I'm proud of that! Thanks, Tibb!

Is the site up yet JC? I've tried the link several times, and I keep getting a "page not found" error. I was just wondering if I'm the only one having this problem.

Origamist wrote: Is the site up yet JC? I've tried the link several times, and I keep getting a "page not found" error. I was just wondering if I'm the only one having this problem. Nah - it may just be a delay...the domain name service provider, and my web host, said it might be a bit longer than 24 hours for the two to link up. They suggested it might take until Monday. But if it does not show up by tomorrow, I will definitely put a call in to them, because I paid for the silly domain thing - I expect it to work! EDIT: Well, I made a call to the web host, and it turns out they goofed once AGAIN, and forgot to link up with the new domain name. lol Sorry about that guys! It will be another 24 hours until the site is assuredly back up. But hey - the important thing is that it IS coming back! I apologize for the confusion, and I am doing my best not wanting to kill my host. ROFL Should be up by Monday night. Thanks for your patience!

That's fantastic, JC! Without your site, I've been blind for information on the true story. Though I know I could always just PM you if I really needed to know something. xD Also, Draco wrote: Congrats, a .net domain too, nice. Links to your site could really clear up unnecessary and/or redundant topics here on the forums too.

Over the years here, I have worked to spread the true history of the serum run. We all learn as we go, and admittedly I've had one or two very small hiccups, but mostly everything has been documentable, reinforceable and absolutely on the mark! It is a truism in the field of historical research (and is held as such among anyone in the field, whether professional or dedicated layman) that the individual who thinks he or she has learned it all, and is the end-all, be-all expert, has actually learned nothing. It is impossible to have learned it all, and the learning process always continues (as I have always said). I am lucky enough to have developed very good connections in the professional and lay community of historians, museum curators, documentary filmmakers, mushers and so on, and I consider that a great privilege! A few of those have even become friends! And those connections have helped a great deal in the development and continuation of my website!

I had to go back through the site and reactivate page-to-page links, re-add pictures and so on. So it was a bit of work. But at least it's all done now and posted! And it is now accessible!
