I would love for there to be a special edition DVD/Blu-ray of Balto, even if it only featured the movie in widescreen for all of us region 1 viewers. I would like it even more if there were a blu-ray resampled Balto movie in 1080p. And it would be even better if they included storyboards of the deleted scenes (optimally with voice-overs).

The probability of any of this happening? < 3.07% +- 5% (ok, this is an entirely ficticious number, but it illustrates my point). The only probable change in the Balto DVD in the next 5 years is it eventually going out of print, sadly.

PS, if there is still a petition, I will gladly sign it. I want just as much as anyone to see a special edition DVD. 720x480 is such a low resolution nowadays, and I would gladly pay upwards of $20 just for a region 1 widescreen edition.

Maybe they might make one in 2025, the 100th anniversary of the 1925 serum run. It would be a nice gift for that once-in-a-lifetime occasion.

I really doubt it, they have moved on from Balto completely.

I do not doubt the possibility of a collectors edition of Balto being released. Its like how Disney will often release old films on DVD and Blu-Ray (like The Lion King around the holiday season). Universal may very well work like that.

Well, Balto's 100th anniversary might appear on the Google sign at least. If not, I'll go to Central Park in New York and i'll sleep right next to the Balto statue in 2025 to celebrate the 100th anniversary.

^ ...I can think of safer ways to celebrate the anniversary. The DVD re-release for one would be better. Central Park at NIGHT in February? That's just crazy.

Maybe, but I must correct you. This isn't just all about Balto... There were 20 mushers and 150 some odd dogs involved. A more appropriate way to put it would be the 100th anniversary to the serum run.

I have to agree with Roi, going to the extent to sleep NEXT to the statue is crazy; a bit obsessive if you ask me. You would freeze to death if you slept out there in the dead of winter.

As to the first point, I couldn't agree more.

And as to the second, not only do I completely agree on the observation, but there is also the very obvious danger of being mugged. Central Park isn't the safest place at night...and only a fool would sleep there (whether at the base of a monument or not). Besides, even if he or she were NOT mugged somehow, there is still the very real possibility of being driven away by the city police.

Doing research is always a good idea. And what do you mean by "feel?"
