Lately, I've come up with an idea. It seems highly probable that we will not see an official Balto video game anytime soon. But, making a simple video game is something humanly possible for a few fans. So, why not at least trying? For doing this, I recommend using Game Maker, which is a PC program that you can download for free. It allows making games easily, while it is enough configurable to make anything you want. Just click on the following link : http://www.gamemaker.nl/This program is able to make very fine 2D games, but also a little 3D. (although I wouldn't recomment making 3D, this is much more complex) Here are a few example games made with this program : You're not forced to use this program though, for example if you're more ease with something like Flash, or any other programming language or software, you're free to do it. You are allowed to gather into teams, but I'll let you do as you wish. The deadline is 1st July 2007. Of course, if some projects become very interesting, you'll be free to continue them after this date. But after the contest, I will make all of the video games projects available on the site. (Considering that you will send them to me so that I can add them on the site) A little advice : try making something very simple at first. Don't try something ambitious immediately. Also, I don't think you'll be able to make a full game, so only a demo (one level for example) is fine. Of course, this depends on the type of game you want to make; you're free to choose this. If you're interested, please post in this topic.

HAHA I've had that idea for a few years, Steet! I even made a few attempts. I have had Game Maker for like a really long time! I will definetley try this!!!! AWESOME!! HAHA....Hmmmm...Isn't it complicated to make a game? You need scripts to randomize the events that happen, dont you?

You don't need to know programming to make a game with it. But if you want to make something really the way you want, you can also program with lines of code.
I don't think it's too complex if you only want to make a simple short game.

I will try it?
Sounds fun
One question, this may sound a little "odd" but for making the character jump ,die, hit, you must create the frames like at an animation?Just want to know ^^

Yes, you can save your animations as GIF for example and then use them in the game.
I would suggest that you study the examples you can download on their site, I'm sure this will help much. Oh and of course, read the documentation when you're wondering about something, it's pretty well made.

I said I would add them on the site. (for download) You'll only have to send me them by email or any other way.
Of course don't hesitate to post screenshots to show the progress.
Danman -> Wow, I see that you're not only good with making soundtracks! A few years ago I did a few things with 3D, but nothing of this level. I found making 3D was too difficult for me.
