I still havent seen part 2. Maybe its because of the poor quality of most of Disneys direct to video sequels. But whatever the reason I will get to it eventually. So whats everyone's take on it? Poor? Good? Great?

Can anyone do a mini review without any spoilers?

Hm. In my opinion it was an 8/10. Definitely one of Disney's better sequels. I'll say that much XD.
Though at some parts the 'humor' isn't really all too humorous, but rather pointless, it's a movie I'd be willing to watch again given the chance.

Yeah it's not as bad as a good number of disney sequels. The storyline isn't too bad nor is the animation. Kenai's new voice is kinda hard to get used to. Bambi 2 is personaly my fav sequel though.

I didn't like it. Brother Bear would be perfectly fine without it. This sequel was unnecessary.

^ Oh, but you know how Disney can't let anyone die alone.

Personally I'm slightly annoyed by the fact they made it a romance [which the first had none of].
Yet I also find it one of the better made sequels. I'll put it this way.
Seen better. Seen worse.

I just got done watching Brother Bear 2 on youtube. I have to say I really enjoyed it. I laughed a lot more in this one than the original. Like someone said on this thread Kenais voice is really hard to get used to. The Wanda Sykes cameo was awesome. Of course its not as good as the first but I'll probably buy it anyway just to add to the collection. Koda is the best.

I started to watch it once, but then i stopped bceause it wasn't catching me. The animation wasn't too bad, apart from the body's proportions. It seemed to me that Kenai's head was enormous..but maybe it is just me.
The movements were very fluid, unlike the two Balto's sequel (probably because Disney cares too much about the quality of its works) and also the backgrounds were nice.
So what lacks is an original plot. Yeah, I know nowdays is extremely difficult to realise something new but i think it would be better to invest energy and money on brand new projects rather than trying to create a sequel for a movie which is already good and completed in itself.
Brother Bear does not have an open final like The Lion King (the watcher does not look foeward to another film to understand how the story goes on), so looking for how to go on with a story becomes hard and it might end up in something which is not really linked to the original movie. It seems as if producers' thoughts were something like: <<Oh, in the first movie we haven't dealt with love between the two sexes so let's do it in this one>>.
Brother Bear producers' plan was not making a film which would have needed a sequel, and people immediately understand it.

I feel like i have to add something pro-movie, so i'll tell you what i really apreciated: the quotation taken from a Shakespeare's sonnet. You know, when there's Tuke who's too embarassed to say something to the moosettes and ends up shouthing: <<Shall I compare thee...?>>. I think the majority of you got it...
I've found it very nice.

Although I bought the movie the day it came out on DVD, I don't really regret it.... much.

The film's plot is just a way to bring in a female back into Kenai's world and that universe, that's all. I did like Nita's addition to the franchise, but the ending... argh, I predicted it about right before I even opened the plastic packaging. That was the downer about this film - so very predictable, as well as very unnecessary.

However, both films focus on the topic of love: The first is more about the love for another, whether person or animal [in this case, a bear or your "brothers"], while the second was a very forced relationship that we can all see coming - a friendship-turned-romantic love.

It's ok, but the plot isn't amaaazing, it's more about romance, which I find a little boring. I prefer other relationships, yet it was o.k. The previous film had a more inuit theme but oh well, it was good ;)
The songs remind me of the type of songs there would be in films like Rapunzel for some reason. 8)

I really didnt mind the story being about romance. But what I did have a problem with was the girl deciding to turn into a bear to be with Kenai. It's just to far out there even for an animated film. I dont care how much I love someone who got turned into an animal of any kind. Being human just has to many advantages lol.

It also waters down the concept of the Great Spirits transformation practices. Turning Kenai into a bear to learn a life lesson I get but not for a girl who Kenai use to kick with back in the day just cause they are older and now flirting.

I think that it was pretty good. I like the first one better. That's just my opinion. I think that the humans get too much story attention.
