It was cold. Real cold. The rocky cliffs and mountains of the Pacific Northwest were showered with a brutal snow storm the night before. Making it nearly impossible for any creature man or beast to scale its frozen walls. The relentless winter winds didnt make it any easier. But easy was not what he wanted. In fact the harder the challenge the better. Defying gread odds and conquering the most complicated tasks is what makes a man a man. And becoming a man is what Kenai wanted more than anything. Despite barely being able to feel his fingers Kenai continued up the mountains rugged walls. At this point his body felt like it weighed 500 pounds as he neared his destination at the next avalible surface. With each reach and pull and every last drop of strength left in his body he inched closer. Closer and closer.

Until...

Kenai's dark concentrated eyes slowly rose from the edge of the surface. He scanned the whole area for nearly a minuet to make sure the coast was clear. No threat was imminent so he pulled the rest of his body to the surface and climbed to his feet. He brushed off all the snow and small peices of ice from his elk fur pants and top. Then he reached to his back and grabbed his spear. Bringing the sharp end of the weapon within inches of his eyes Kenai starred at the razor sharp rock as this was his last line of defense. Lose this as he lost his bow in the forest and it could mean the quick and painful end of his very short life. He took a deep sigh and started forward. The area before him was pretty small with mostly big boulders and a handful of big trees. So whatever he was after couldnt have gone far and most likely was hiding no more than ten yards ahead of him. As he moved closer he suddenly heard a crunching sound coming from behind one of the boulders. The young hunter smirked as he got within inches of the big rock. Kenai moved the spear within attack positon and just before he sprang onto his prey he heard a loud thump come from behind him near the edge of the surface. He quickly zipped around and saw a huge rock that must have caused the sound. He began to walk toward it when suddenly something jumped onto him from behind and tackled him face first in the snow. Kenai struggled and struggled trying to turn over and gain the upper hand but he couldnt. This foe was just to strong.

This foe was...

"You know..If I was a bear or mountain lion you would be dead by now."

Kenai: Well if I had a warning I could have evaded that move.

Sitka: Thats the whole point of this little exercise. Out in the wild. Against the beasts that call this place home. Most of the time you wont get a warning.

Kenai: Right. I get it. Can you let me up now?

Thanks tlkcrazer! I have to be in the right state of mind to get the creative juices flowing. And I will.

I know, my problem with writing stories is that I think of a great beginning and ending, but nothing interesting for the middle XD

Exactly. And I didn't want to make this story to long. But what I have in mind has the potenial to get very long. And that's now what I wanted to do. Hmmm...need to think. Work brain work.
