I was watching The Lion King a couple of days ago and noticed this: When ever Mufasa saves Simba and askes Scar for help, he says "Scar...Brother...Help me!" Well I noticed that before he says "Brother", somthing weird happens.

Right after his claws scratch the rock, a small voice says "Brother" and then Mufasa says "Brother" in full voice.

I think that he mumbled it quietly, as if was trying to get a good grip on the rock, then he said it louder so Scar could hear.

I'm not hearing this. hmm.

I heard it. I think the guy who was playing the voice of Mufasa was praticing to hear what he would sound like, but I'm not sure.

I watched it again, and I could swear that's Scar saying brother to Mufasa. Listen closely, it's his voice.

I never heard Mufasa say brother two times either.

I always thought it was Mufasa, as Silent_Cola said, mumbling it first as he tried to get a grip on the cliff, then repeating it louder for Scar to hear. I also thought that maybe since he did say "Scar" first, that maybe he realized that Scar himself wouldn't be flattered by Mufasa simply giving him a command, using his (nick?) name, and right afterward felt he should personalize it more, and refer to him as his brother?

"Scar! Help me!" = pushy; a king ordering one of his subjects.
"Brother! Help me!" = a family member pleading for help.

I always noticed that "brother" is said twice but I never gave it a second thought til now... because now I want to go rewatch it and see if that could be, as you (Silent_Cola) suggested, Scar saying it and not Mufasa? o.O Hmmm. Would be interesting. Similar to the above reason why Mufasa changed his mind and said brother in place of Scar, but instead Scar had to (bitterly) remind him they were brothers?

EDIT: I watched the YouTube video, I think the quality of the video makes it kind of difficult to tell, but from what I heard I'm unconvinced that that's Scar's voice... but now my interest is piqued; I'll keep my ears open next time I watch my Lion King DVD

I heard that the 'small voice' was because Mufasa's voice actor forgot the line, and someone had to whisper it to him. Though, rather strange. You would think that they would have lines with them, after all, it's not like anyone would be able to see?

Even though they DID have their lines with them. They movie makers or scriptwriters or what ever wouldn't make them memorize it just to record it.

Yeah, that's true. Although they would have been practised a lot. I mean, I know all the lines in that movie. No joke. But yeah, it wouldn't make sense to not have the script with them.

Oh, that? He was probally calling out to Scar and was a little paniced so he repeated himself.
