Okay, after having watched the Balto 2 WQ movie for the hundreth time, I realized there was something eerie about Balto's dream when he was near the Bering Straight. when it shows the ice bridge form and the caribou hop across the ice chunks, we as the viewers can see that it is a landmass with trees and such, but when it pans out, the edges of the landmass disappear, as if it were an island. It might be just a program error, but it is kinda fun to toy around with the idea that maybe, there is something else out there, some other story.

In the Bering Straight, there is a landmass that rests between Russia and Alaska, this island is named; Little Diomede Island. This might have been the land mass that Alue led the wolves to. I know WQ had like 1000's of mistakes, but it really isn't that far fetched.

Red Circle: Little Diomede Island
Green:Probable Path
Yellow: Possible Path

Should have Alue crossed, following the caribou, the island is WAY too small to hold packs of wolves, and packs of Caribou, so if anything that I said above is false, it is more probable that the writers meant for them to end up in Russia.

Uits been a while since I've seen the mivie, but I belive it was the sound Aleu crossed and not the Bearing Sea. A good portion of the sound ices over in the winter, enough to cross by dogsled team. The Bearing Sea will not form much ice because of it's intense wave action. Thus I always figured that Aleu traveled South across the sound towards Anchorage as apposed to west across the Bearing to Russia

^I've also thought that it would be a little too far to go to Siberia, but there's another possibility. Instead of south, they could have gone north and across Kotzebue Sound (the body of water north of the Seward Peninsula).

So now the question could be 'Did they go north or south'?

The distance is easily plausible for crossing, but the conditions are not. The strait would not ice entirely over, and regularly experiences waves an upwards of 50 feet, and in bad weather, more several hundred feet. That wold render a crossing highly improbable by ice. Both sounds, however, do sufficiently ice sufficiently for crossing, though treacherous. To be honest, the only reason I didn't mention the other sound is i couldn't remember if it qualified as a sound or not, though between the two it seems more probable to me that caribou would migrate in a more northernly direction rather then towards civilization, which is more prominent in southern Alaska.
