Did you guys care about the romance between AnyaxDimitri? I sure did. <3 And I used to gag at romance stuff, but I was always rooting for this pairing in the movie.

From my Anastasia review:Quote: I loved how Anastasia and Dimitri constantly acted towards each other from beginning to end, and how their feelings changed for each other throughout the film. I'm also usually not one for romances, especially in animation, but I fell in love with this one. I'm a fan of Anastasia x Dimitri, they're an excellent couple. The sarcasm throughout the movie was a winner for me, too.
I definitely love these two. Usually when I see a romance I get annoyed because romance in films gets all too common and predictable. Another thing that irritates me, especially in those Disney classics around princesses, is that they're always looking for romance and their one true love. However, Anastasia didn't look for this and was instead looking for her family. This was also creative, given that Dimitri was basically a part of her family the entire time after they fell in love with each other. I thought this romance was cute, funny, and downright amazing. Anastasia X Dimitri is pure win for me.

I never thought of it that way before, and never even really realised, but this is true!

I loved the romance, it was so sweet ^^ I kept wondering if they'd end up together or if they would go their seperate ways. Anastasia is definitely a unique movie I love it!

I think Vlad shipped this the earliest.... and then began to regret it when it actually happened.
I thought that it was predictable once it happened, as a love interest for our heroine is a staple in a lot of "princess" movies, Disney or not. Still, the idea of having some sort of background story between the two of them without them (one of, at least) even knowing it until that turning point in Paris was a good way to reel them together to having some sort of relationship.
And I agree with you, emily123 - the fact that Anya wasn't seeking out for that kind of love did make her stand out in the "princess" genre. She only wanted the love of her family, wherever they happened to be. Dmitri seemed to me almost the same way, as it was obvious that a relationship would only get in the way of his plans and his schemes. It ended up surprising them both once they each realized it and knowing that they did love each other, it affected how they acted near the climax as they began to separate.
So did I like it? I thought that despite the predictability, it worked well from the beginning.

The romance was great: it wasnt sappy, and it wasn't over-done.
