She's supposed to be 6 years-old, right ? so shouldn't she be going to school? I'm asking this because i can't remember a single time this was mentioned. The only thing i know for sure is that she has a nanny sometimes. This could be important for the story i'm writing for the game, so i'd appreciate an answer...

I suppose she goes to school. It was never mentioned in the TV series, because it probably wasn't important for the plot. Does she have a nanny in the comic books? Because she never did in the show. She had babysitters from time to time. Kit was one of them ("It Came From Beneath the Sea Duck"). And I know Rebecca mentioned leaving Molly with a babysitter in "Her Chance to Dream". And, yes, six-year-olds go to school in the U.S. It's the law. However, most kids start school when they're 3 or 4 (preschool). Hope that answers your question.

(1930s) The 30's wern't as rustic as one may think, that age was around back then. I'm more interested for some reason is wheather you start the first September you turn six?

The children's parent's had to pay for their text books and class rooms were typically 15-17 children. Its seems that there was no room for children that made trouble and those who did make trouble were sent home to work. Maybe Molly doesn't go to school because Rebecca couldn't afford the textbooks; it would certainly explain why we see Molly in the office or being babysat so often instead of being in school. That's logical conclusion

Then I guess Kit got his from some charity that helped kids in his place in the world. Then Becky is from a privlaged family, she may want too make it on her own but may forsake it for Molly. And in the USA it was still compulsery. I think you have a great point and what a suprise on US education, still do I bet?!

darkcatt wrote: That crossed my mind. I think Rebecca pays him for being a navigator, but I'm not 100% sure. She doesn't seem to charge them rent so maybe he has extra money?? He also seems to go to school intermittently, and it wasn't uncommon for children to skip school to work if they were needed. There's also the possibility that the writers didn't really research it at all and only used school as a plot device for certain episodes, but I haven't seen the TS bible so I don't know for sure. It seems as though they have done some research, but not in depth research. They wouldn't have gone that far in research. I think Molly has just not started it yet that's all. I think he's a routine student (Becky encourages his studys in "Vouel Play" and may be why he's there, and the law), many episodes he's not in seem too be when he'd be in class and many of the one's he's in are look like it's summer, so it's the summer holdays, that or the weekends or after (some epiodes are over a whole day or up too a few weeks). True he may skipp now and then, my dad in the 50's did and I did now and then. I'm no exbert but I think the US school year starts around mid September and all kids who turned 6 between then and the start of last begine First Grade then... say if she turned 6 on March 9th (my sisters) she'd start in Sep of that year. And I might say enen in the 30's it was the LAW too go.

So, i guess it wouldn't be a shock to anyone if Molly did go to school in the game i am making?
(this won't be a major element of the game, but i'd like to be as coherent as possible)
