Grace Kane-Karnage wrote: That's a nice theory, GroundedAviator! Very possible! A bit like one of the fictional guys he's based on, Captain Nemo, though he is an anti-hero when Karnage is clearly a villian. Both are murderers though. A bit off but I also think he's lost it a bit and has started doing extream stuff in his path in life, in P&L he had a violent reputation and I guess after he started doing crazy stuff rather then hold-ups and hijackings.

Grace Kane-Karnage wrote: Possibly. While Plunder and Lightning we definitely see Karnage as a more stereotypical 'evil bad guy', he's really not like that again for the rest of the series. In following episodes he seems less violent and even has a sense of humor. Given Karnage's arrogant nature, it's quite possible he just LIKES to act menacing and intimidating just to show off and so that his crew will be fearful enough to respect him. True, I'd say he lost it after that and went a bit crazy. A nasety shock can do that to a person. But yes he is a good actor.

Grace Kane-Karnage wrote: A bit crazy? Explain your reasoning. True, there's the fact that Karnage vehemently denies being insane in "Stuck on You", and while there are times where he can seem unstable, he's certainly not like that ALL the time. He would, I ment he lost an effective grasp of fighting his "war" after that and did wild scemes.

Grace Kane-Karnage wrote: True. And of course there was the scene where he ordered Kit to be thrown off the Iron Vulture..... Yeah, before I think he may have mostly gone after ships and aircraft like the one you see at the start of P&L but after it he felt he had too upstage the event but only made it worse. Shock and an ego can be a bad thing and several pirates in real life ended their career that way. Well he was PISSED! And probably shocked the kid he had some respect for betrayed him.

By the way: I forgot to mention this earlier, but since the general fan consensus (from what I've seen, anyway) that Karnage was most likely born around the very early 20th century or just at the end of the 19th, I don't think he'd be quite old enough to remember the Spanish-American war (which means he would have been born in about 1894 or 1895 at youngest in order to remember the conflict) Doesn't need too remember it. May be more angry if being brought up on it, you know sitting on Papa's knee being told of the riches they once had and before he could enjoy them, they were taken. I agree about the late 1890's, he comes off as about 40, so does Baloo.

Dredging up another past topic. I recall discussion about Don Karnage back from the early 1990s. Many people thought Karnage was based on the South American Maned Wolf (due to his coloring and general "look"). Maned wolves are found in Brazil, Paraguay, Argentina, and Bolivia, which fits in with his somewhat odd accent. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maned_wolf

TheGroundedAviator wrote: Yes. And I've always thought of Karnage of possibly being a disgraced military officer, rather than an aristocrat (which fits in nicely with the South American countries mentioned -- the class struggle of the militia having to defend and/or fight against the upperclass). Perhaps Karnage is so crazy due to having PTSD. He's got illusions to becoming wealthy but he's no aristocrat. He's always seemed more of a social climber, aspiring to wealth and power (but always fails due to his own craziness and inept crew).
