Just a bit of a pet peeve of mine, but so many people call things like soundtracks "songs". These are not songs, they're scores. Songs consist of words.

Not to nit pick, but not all soundtracks are purely instrumental. Movies like TLK, Spirit, and even Balto have music with lyrics. 'Reach for the Light' being an easy example. So they're not really scores either are they?

Before this gets way out of hand, Mighty, your right. Roiffalo, You're right. (I read up on it to be sure.) Don't quote me on this, but I'm pretty sure "song" has broad enough meaning in English to cover scores, songs, concertos, sonatas, etc. Aleuoverkodi, the quality is actually pretty good! Take it from someone who nitpicks over sound quality. Let's not kid ourselves; It's not a CD ripped into a FLAC file, but it's about the same as you would get from iTunes. You would need a pretty expensive audio system to really tell the difference beyond 256 kbps.

If a song has no lyrics, it fits the definition of score better than a song with lyrics. That's just my view on the subject.

It's cool that it's downloadable, maybe I can make a CD out of it. Nice of Universal to do so.

I think you guys are misinterpreting my original post as something that I was just randomly throwing out there. I was actually responding to Aaron's post on the other page where he referred to the Balto soundtrack scores as "songs".

Of course it matters. A lot. A "song" is not a "score", though a score may contain song verses and composition. AND the musical composition OF a song is a "score". But that is only part OF the song.

Are these distinctions important enough to bother about? I think the answer to that should be obvious. It does matter. And anyone with a musical background would tell you that (probably more emphatically than I just did).
