I don't believe there is a topic like this (I checked five pages back), though if there is, moderators feel free to lock it. Anyways, who are your favorite authors? I have several, but I'll post just three for now:
L.J. Smith [Author of 'The Vampire Diaries'] Rick Riordan [Author of 'Percy Jackson & the Olympians', 'The Heroes of Olympus', The Kane Chronicles, etc.] Suzanne Collins [Author of 'The Hunger Games']

One author whose work I've always liked Jack London, the author of "White Fang", "Call of The Wild" and many others. I also like Christoper Paolini's work (the Inheritance cycle), and various fantasy series depending on the subject and plot.

Some of my favorite authors: Stephen Baxter: The Xeelee Sequence series, "Flood" and the sequel "Ark", Time Odyssey series(would love a legit conclusion to it), Manifold trilogy, and Mammoth trilogy. I've read most of them so far. David Lynn Golemon: Event group series, The supernaturals series. Actually talked with him a few times Taylor Anderson: Destroyermen series. Arthur C. Clark: Time Odyssey series co-author.

Terry Prachet (Discworld series) Howard Philips Lovecraft (Call Of Cthulu) John Ronald Reuel Tolkien (Lord Of The Rings by you probably know it xD) - So classic yet so awesome. I should have meditioned some Polish authors as well. The best fantasy books I've read were Polish

I have three authors the I absolutely adore.
J. K. Rowling (Harry Potter Series) - She made my childhood so I always give her love whenever I can!
Maggie Stiefvator (Shiver Trilogy, Books of Faerie, Scorpio Races, and Raven Boys) - The way she writes is just like poetry and I fall in love with her characters everytime. She has a corky personality that reflects in her writing, but always in a positive way.
Libba Bray (Gemma Doyle Series, Beauty Queens, and Going Bovine) - I saved the best for last! She is my absolute favorite author. She writes down what we all think but are too afraid to go against the crowd to say. The way she writes is beautiful. I have no other way to describe it. She is wonderfully sarcastic, realistic, and points out the things society tries to deny. Her characters are all unique and her stoires take you to another world. Just plain, amazing perfection!

Let's see... To keep in theme, I'll name three:
J. K. Rowling, always has been a top favorite of mine ever since I picked up the first Harry Potter book.
Brian Jaques, writer of the Redwall series, as well as The Angel's Command. He had a lot of books published and I have them all, and I was upset when he passed away.
And finally, and may nobody want to stab me for this one, Christopher Paolini of the Inheritance Cycle. No spoilers from me, but the last book did drive me a bit crazy.

I'd add J.K.R. for making my favorite werewolf character of all time, but I won't cause she also killed him with the stupidest excuse for doing so EVER. Roi:

Are we talking about Lupin? Cause if so, I don't remember him dying!

Eeyup. It was barely mentioned even though Lupin was actually a very important character (giving Harry SOMEONE to look up to even though he never appreciated it, and teaching him the Patronus charm [which he used FREQUENTLY]). Lupin and Tonks died in the final battle at Hogwarts. Their death was described in the after math when Harry saw them as 'peaceful' or the like, as they were laying next to each other with their hands holding or at least touching. Rowling said she did this cause she wanted to recreate the tragedy of Harry's young life, by orphaning Teddy. I say that's complete and utter BULL. If that were the case, she would've went into more detail about Teddy's life, if even a little bit. Instead of just telling us how some years later he knows how to make out. But it's obvious she stopped giving a crap when she named Harry's children, 'James', 'Lily', and 'Albus Severus'. *gags*
