Will sat back and listened to her story about running away, shaking his head. Idiot parents. His whole demeanor changed though as she began to cry and pour her life out to him. Seeing this as a perfect oppertunity to gain a bit more of her trust and just be with her, just the two of them. Will waiting patiently till she was done talking, standing up from his stool and walking over to the sobbing mess that was Emily. He grabbed her gently by the arm and lifted her up, wrapping his strong arms around her. "It's okay baby, Wills' gotcha now, you'll be fine here with me. I promise." He said, stroking her long red hair. Will held her close, her small frame fitting awkwardly against him, like hugging a child or something. She couldn't have been too tall either, since he was tall enough to rest his chin on the top of her head.

"You're gonna be okay, I promise." He whispered in her ear, holding her a bit tighter than before. As the two stood there in the center of the kitchen the burgers continued to cook on one side, slowly yet surely browning into a nice tender meat. In the back of Will's mind he never wanted to let Emily go, knowing that if he did he may never get the chance to hold her like that again. He glanced over at the hamburgers, they were fine. Continuing to hold the small girl Will gently kissed the top of her head, almost certain that she didn't feel it. He couldn't help but feel a bit of sympathy for the girl, since of course he never knew what it was actually like to feel the same way she felt. He had grown up all these years without a mother, and yet it bothered him none.

A cellphone, hmm. He thought, just to keep that in mind for if anything happened.

Emily thoughtlessly wrapped her arms around him and squeezed, crying into his chest as she felt all the stress and emotional baggage being lifted from her body. She screamed quietly into his chest, wanting desperately for this nightmare she called life just to be done and over with. If I stay here with Will, I'll never have to suffer again. She thought as she held onto him a bit tighter, the tears finally stiffling to a stop. Though she did feel a bit better for some reason she didn't want to let him go, gripping his shirt as if it would make him want to hold her the same way she tried to hold him. "Your a good friend Will." She said quietly, feeling his hands on her hair. It was fine with her, since she didn't care that much about her hair at the moment. She probably looked terrible anyway.

Emily blinked away a few more tears as Will whispered the nice thoughts in her ear, feeling safe wrapped in his muscular arms, unaware that soon enough though his clutches wouldn't be such a safe haven. Slowly she finally loosened her grip on him, letting her arms drop down to her sides. She put on the happiest face she could, "I'm glad to be here with you Will." She said, her courage and pride building up stronger and stronger, "Yeah! Who needs those guys anyway? I'm totally fine here with you." She giggled, taking a seat back on the stool that Will had lifted her off of. The lights flickered again as the storm worsened, the thunder rattling the windows and walls. Emily folded her arms and smiled a bit bigger, her head held high.

William smiled and slowly let her go, nodding when she told him that he was a good friend. "Well lemme get back to fixing that dinner I promised." He chuckled, stepping back over to the stove and flipping the burgers over. They were a nice shade of brown on one side and now they only needed to brown on the middle and other side, which wouldn't take long. He took a deep breath and looked back into the fridge, grabbing a two liter pepsi from one of the shelves. Will sat it on the table and grabbed some glasses out of the cupboard, chuckling as she continued to ramble on about how bad her parents were, "And I'm glad you're here with me too shortems." He said, pouring a glass half full with the ice cold soda and setting it down in front of Emily. He flashed her a smile. Will walked over and sat with her again.

"Your gonna have a great time here." He said with a grin, putting both hands on the table and looking back over at the frying pan. He wasn't that hungry but he had cooked himself one anyway, just incase he did want a snack or something. Will took a deep breath, remembering his cigarrattes in the truck. I should've brough them with me. He said, sighing quietly. The thought of running back outside and getting them crossed his mind briefly, though he really didn't feel like going out and getting soaked by the icy rain that pelted down like bullets. He wondered when the storm was going to loosen it's firm grip on the house, since of course he was nearly in the center of it all.

Emily giggled sweetly and nodded, watching him as he worked at making dinner. Not once have I ever seen a guy so into cooking like he is, usually they would've just went out and got the 10 minute meals but not him. She thought happily, her mind still trying to figure this overly sweet guy out. She placed her hand gently over his, "I know." She said and smiled a bit bigger at Will. All the cute little nicknames he had given her reminded her a bit of her best friend, who had died in a car accident a few years ago. Emily missed him dearly, it felt as though she had lost a brother. Emily saw the same thing in Will that she did in that friend that had passed away, seeing someone she could believe and put her trust in fully. She lifted the cold mug off the counter with one hand, taking a sip of the cold beverage as her other hand wrapped gently around Will's. It made her hand feel a bit smaller than it actually was, since she couldn't fully wrap hers around his. Emily blinked a few times, looking up and catching his blue silver eyes. "W-Will." She began.

Will gave her a friendly grin as she put her hand down on his, slowly dropping it as he looked over at the hamburgers then back at her. "Yeah?" He said, pausing for a second before leaning over the marble counter top where they sat. His eyes gazing deep into hers as his heart beat quickened a bit. All of his senses went a little crazy as he leaned in closer and closer to her, now clutching her hand in his. Just as his lips were about to meet hers his elbow hit the cup, senting the cold liquid all over the counter and dripping onto the tile flooring. Will cursed quietly and grinned, "I'll clean it up." He said, releasing her hand and backing away before snatching a hand towel off the rack again, this time a green one. Will began to dab the soda up, still thinking about Emily instead of the burgers.

Just as he was about to take the towel to the bathroom the aroma of the burgers finally got to him, reminding him that they were almost to a burning point. "S***." He mumbled, walking over and turning the burner off. One by one he pulled the burgers off the pan with the spatula, placing them onto a glass plate. The buns and all the supplies were already up there next to them. "Okay kiddo, you can wait a minute for them to cool or you can get one now. Eat as much as you want, I'm not hungry." He said walking to the doorway, slowing and stopping as he reached it. "I'll be right back." He said, walking to the bathroom and tossing the towel in the dirty clothes basket. Will stood in there for a few more minutes, cupping some water in his hands and tossing it in his face. He stood with his head down and his hands on the sink.

Emily bit her bottom lip nervously, ready to meet him halfway. Just as her eyes fluttered shut her whole drink spilled and raced across the table, breaking Will's attention away from her. Emily cleared her throat and nodded, folding her hands in her lap. I can't believe he tried to kiss me. She thought, a bit in disbelief. Sitting there quietly Emma watched him work around her, not paying much attention to her since he was still hurrying to get everything cleaned up and the burgers done. She took a deep breath, watching him as he placed the burgers on the table then walked towards the next room. "Alrighty." She said, looking straight at the burgers again. She decided to go ahead and make two of them, so she wouldn't be hungry later.

When he was gone she hurried to put everything on hers, pour some more of the pepsi and take a seat back at the table. Emma said a quick prayer before sinking her teeth into the steaming burger. At first it was a bit hot, quickly cooling against a few deep puffs of breath and hasty chewing. Emily smiled some, thinking about how good this hamburger was. Man he can sure cook. He must've been married before and had to cater to at least one woman, if not a family of his own. Inside Emma waited impatiently for him to come back, wanting to be in his presence once again.
