I've never read Catcher In The Rye..But I have been reading what I think are some good books. The Throne of Fire is good; it's a second book in The Kane series, by Rick Riordan. You may have heard of him from his popular Percy Jackson series. The Kane Series is about Egyptian artifacts and gods; pretty good stuff.

I'm also passing the time reading the Warrior Cat's Series. The Warrior Cats, believe it our not, are written by three separate people. There are currently four series about Warriors, and I'm on the third one. There is usually about 4-6 books in each series, and they usually switch off character's points of views.

If you like the bigger books, there is a series called the Inheritance series, by Christopher Paolini. Dragons are present, and a few other mythical creatures like dwarves and elves. There's three books, but the final installment is planned to come out sometime this year.

I read a lot, so if you want to know about any other books to read, it's ok to ask xD

'Post Office' by Charles Bukowski. One of my favorite novels of all time.

Obviously some john green stuff. Seven realms series is good. Its fantasy with princesses and wizards and that sort of stuff, but its really well done, and the characters are awesome. Going along with fantasy, Dragon Riders of Pern series is good, its about dragons/dragon riders. Its kind of old.
Gone series is good if you dont mind gory stuff. Its an end-of-the-world type book. Also, if you like end of the world books read the Life As We Knew It serries. They are really dark as well, but I enjoyed them greatly.
Some popular book series are Hunger Games (i liked the first one the best), Percy Jackson/ Heroes of Olympus, Mortal Instruments/ Infernal Devices, Eragon, Warriors, Harry Potter, Twilight (i've never read them, but although theres a lot of haters ive heard they arent half bad).
If you're into classic literature and stuff, i just finished reading Twelfth Night, one of the shakespeare plays, and thought it was magnificent. Also, Great Gatsby, Catcher in the rye, A separate peace, and catch 22 were all good reads.
And i guess ill include science fiction- Enders game. Love that book, the science stuff is awesome. And Ark. More of an adult book, but also very sciencey and awesome.
Also, i've heard Sarah Dessen is a really good author. Ive never read any of her books because thats the genre i like to call 'teenage girl books' (is just like realsitc fiction type stuff), but if you like that kind of stuff shes a good autor. Also, the book 13 reasons why (i dis read that one) is another good one from that genre.
I think thats enough books for now :)

I haven't read Catcher in the Rye, but I know in my bookshop it always sells.

So, are classics what you mainly like? I could list the ones I've liked since high school and have copies of. They're both very, very good in my opinion.

"Macbeth" by William Shakespeare, and "And Then There Were None" by Agatha Christie.

I usually read fantasy/scifi. Classics all depend on how readable they are, if i pick it up and it sounds like something out of the scarlet letter (i absolutely destest that book, sorry to people who like it), i wont read it.

I've read a handful of sci-fi fantasy too, and some humorous books, and psychological thrillers... I like certain things or certain authors and I'm a little picky when it comes to reading something else from the usual stuff I like reading. Last actual book (that's not a comic, graphic novel, or manga) I finished reading was the fifth of this dark crime/homicide forensics series with a humorous twist, by Jeff Lindsay. "Dexter is Delicious" I thought it was the best one so far. Have yet to read the next one!

Some of you mature members may have heard of the Dexter show on Showtime, but I like the books more. A few of the book versions of some characters are better, and the alliteration Dexter narrates with is an entertaining trademark I like...

I won't really discuss much detail about either since this is a forum for all ages. I'll just say that the TV show goes in a completely different direction from the novels after the first season. I actually felt the first four seasons were good, but then it just got really bizarre in places in later seasons. Brain-breaking bizarre. :/ It's not like that in the books at all.

You know what book series i forgot? Bartimaeus trilogy! Very, very good and funny. The author uses footnotes for the character that has 1st pov, in which the character makes snarky comments about whats going on in the book.
