Okay, I noticed people entertaining the idea of a Balto series. Some people think it'd be a great idea. Others think its an absolutely horrendous idea. Some are neutral on the subject.

Now I've wanted to do this for a while. What with working on the Balto animation and everything, I thought it could totally work as a series, IF done right. And I know the lot of you think that the Balto animation is not getting done, but just so you guys don't think me or anyone else working on this is slacking, here's some finished screenshots just to get you to shut up: http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g184/ ... cont01.png http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g184/ ... cont02.png http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g184/ ... cont03.png

Anyway, I've written up a few "episodes" for this "series" because I intend on writing a few short fics for these. Alot of these were ideas I'd already come up with, and a couple of these were inspired by other peoples' ideas.

Some of you are probably wondering about voices and stuff, well, the best part of Universal (or whoever) for a "prequel" series like this is, you don't really need old voice actors to hire. You can hire kids and they're cheap right? x3 (Lets just hope they'd pick better ones than the ones for Jungle Cubs.)

Whats the point of this topic? Well, I would love for you all to send some of your ideas for "episodes" my way! Now keep in mind that this would be like making a /family/ show, so keep it PG.

We could have a whole thing going, birthday problems and all. Probably no Christmas episodes cuz...thats just silly and cliche, everyone does those xD Lets come up with some /real/ problems here. At least once the introductory episodes are out of the way. Other than that, we won't be showing /too/ much of an in-depth backstory to each character. Simply scenarios showing how they acted when they were kids, you know? Pretty simple.

Unless I get Flash on my computer, I won't be able to animate all of these but we'll see how it goes.

-------------------------------------

1) The Balto episode we 're doing.

2) Balto is grown a bit and he's off playing with his parents in the rain. Ruslan runs off to get his family some food and after a while a gunshot is heard. Aniu quickly grabs Balto and runs. Its starting to get foggy and thankfully Aniu blends in well. But dogs are still chasing after her and so are hunters. Aniu finds an old abandoned boat and leaves Balto there. He asks where daddy is, but she cries and nuzzles him. She hears the dogs and humans getting nearer, so she tells her son to stay and she runs into the fog. She manages to take down one of the dogs. It appears as tho there are two or three. She keeps running and she and another dog get so far ahead, they decide to talk. He tells her he's just following orders from his masters who want the white wolf spirit dead. She wonders why everyone is saying she's this strange spirit when she isn't. After crying about this title, Aniu is shot dead. Meanwhile Balto is back on the boat crying that his mom won't return and he looks behind him and sees the town of Nome in the sunrise.

3) Its the next day continuing from where we left Balto off. He gathered the courage to venture into the town by himself. He sees these fascinating creatures, none of which are really paying attention to him since he's kind of hiding. He sees a black and white dog about his age and approaches him, asking him who he is. It's Steele. He asks Balto what his name is, but since Balto isn't named at this time, he's ill-equipped and tells Steele he didn't have a name. Steele therefore makes fun of him for it. Balto leaves and sees the butcher's shop. He hears his stomach growling so he picks ath the garbage to find some food, but the butcher comes out waving a broom at him. Balto's saved just in time by a girl named Rosy, who then gives him his name. Balto likes this girl and notices the pretty red and white dog of hers. Balto sees Steele again and asks him who she is, but he scoffs and says she'd never talk to a mutt like him and to thank his parents for that. Balto goes home and cries about never being able to make a friend until he hears geese above and watches them saying "I wish I could fly". His thoughts are interrupted when he's crashed into by an older goose, who looks like he's about to die from exhaustion. Balto gladly takes care of him and lets him use his home and his blanket. The goose is named Boris and asks Balto where his parents are. He says he doesn't know and Boris says that he'll take care of him. And Balto smiles thinking he's finally made a new friend.

4) The next day Balto is perched on the bow on his boat, sighing a lovesick sigh. Boris asks him what he's looking at and just outside of town is a family of four, consisting of two parents, Rosy, and Jenna. Boris thinks their friends but Balto says they aren't, but he wishes they were. Boris wonders why Balto hasn't introduced himself, but Balto says he's too shy. So Boris tries giving him a lesson in self-confidence to try and get her attention, since thats the way of many bird rituals. He teaches Balto to strut around, hilariously, with his chest puffed out and his legs wobbling about, and actually honking like a goose. Balto, unsure, but still trusting of Boris' knowledge, goes to try his new friend making skills. But he ends up creeping her out. Steele happened to be walking by with a couple of his friends and saw it. He laughs at him, gives him a false tip, and leaves, but the others just kinda play along. Kaltag stays and tells Balto that if he wants to impress Jenna (which was all he figured Balto was trying to do) that he should do it through using a broad vocabulary and show off his great speaking skills. Kaltag tells him a few words he can use, but when Balto goes to try them out, he uses them all wrong, at first confusing Jenna, but then just making her angry. Balto goes off, angry that he couldn't make a new friend when an older dog shows up. He asks whats wrong and Balto tells him his situation. The dog tells him that maybe he should just try talking to her because the best things in life are worth the risk. Balto does it and thanks the dog, who we find is named Togo. Balto gives Togo's advice a try and it seems to work, tho Jenna is still a bit timid around him. But Balto is still happy that she said "I'll see you later!"

Insert some in-between episodes, because after this it really doesn't matter what order they're in.

** Its Balto's birthday and he goes to town to see if Jenna, Anna, Kaltag, Nikki, and Star wanted to celebrate with him. But just in time to ruin the start of his day, Balto runs into Steele, who makes fun of him by asking why they'd bother to remember his birthday. Balto shakes it off, but soon realizes that all of them were too busy to do anything with him. It gets him down and thinks about how it's just like every other birthday he had. He starts missing his mom, when Steele comes back to taunt him about being right. The next day Jenna and the others were wondering why Balto seemed rather sad when they couldn't do anything and also wondered why they couldn't find him when they were no longer busy. Steele drops by to "remind them" that they forgot it was his birthday, but Jenna insists that she never knew when his birthday was. They find Balto and apologize and want to make it up to him. He gladly lets them, even if it isn't on his birthday.

** It starts out that Steele is walking around town, strutting his stuff to nobody since he's in an alleyway by himself. He smells something from underneath the boiler room and peeks under it. He sees a few pairs of glowing, catlike eyes staring back at him. He freezes, scared, until he realizes its just a bunch of kittens. He says "Why should I be afraid of a bunch of kittens? You can't do anything. I could rip you to shreds." He threatens to, until a larger pair of eyes open up, as if they've been there the entire time. It is a large parent cat and it is not happy. He starts hissing and chasing after him. Steele runs as fast as he can, scared out of his wits. The people see it and find it funny, but Steele runs into Jenna and kind of cowers behind her. She sees that he was running from the cat, who then goes back to its litter. Jenna says she didn't know he was afraid of cats, but he makes her swear not to tell anyone. Unfortunately for him, Kaltag overheard and he blabs to everyone. It eventually gets back to Steele and it hurts his feelings. He finds Jenna and yells at her for telling. Even tho Jenna didn't tell anyone, she feels terrible. Word gets back to Jenna that Steele left Nome to take on a cougar and she quickly finds Togo to help her find him. Steele is in the woods and in no time finds a cougar, that finds him to be the perfect mid-meal snack. Togo comes to the rescue just in time and saves Steele with Jenna. On the way back, Togo tells Steele that he knew about his fear, but just so the others stop making fun of him, he'd tell everyone himself that it was Steele who scared the cougar away. Jenna rolls her eyes, but she's glad that Steele didn't get killed and that everything turned out okay. She finishes off the episode by saying "So now that you know how it feels to be made fun of, are you gonna be nicer now?" Steele says "Heheh....eh...."

** Nikki is off playing with a ball that was dropped by a bunch of children. Steele comes along and starts to play, but then notices that the ball looks and is shaped alot like Nikki. He starts poking fun at him and calling him fat and upsetting him. He kicks the ball in anger and storms off. He goes home and immediately starts eating outside, fast and not chewing very good. Since he's outside, a young girl dog approaches him and tells him that its not good to eat so fast or he'll choke. Nikki angrilly tells her to buzz off and he starts choking. She quickly jumps on his back and he coughs up the food and thanks her. She tells him that she told him so, in a friendly way and introduces herself as Mahogany, but he can call her Maggie for short. He apologizes and explains why he's so upset, but she says that she thinks he's cute the way he is and leaves. He smiles at what she said, but then remembers what Steele said about him being like a ball. He decides that he'll just lose a little weight and stops eating. He wanted to lose weight fast, so he didn't eat food whenever his owners gave it to him.

Got an idea cat. For a series I get,and here's an idea:
1st episode might be like the B in a writing prompt littler kid outline format(whatever,it's the beginning) and might have stuff about the characters in the series(though some may be added later on) and their early life.
2nd episode might have stuff about some conflicts amongst the characters like love(like the Balto 1 movie),or soething or the other and might (at the end) have some sort of thought from the effected/main character.
3rd episode they may try to solve it...

And so on. And before you get flash you could always use iaza.com. You can easily animate there.
So,I hope I helped!

Are you actually going to animate the next three episodes after the one you're doing now? Just curious. :thumleft:

Haha if I get Flash on my computer for keeps then maybe xD

But no, these are just ideas as to how a series could work. And its definitely possible seeing as there's so many interesting characters from the first movie that could be in it.

People, people. If it has not been said enough times (which I'm sure it has) I'll say it again.

Cat and Drew are working on ONE episode of this, and have been for a while now. What's posted here are just IDEAS, you know, like a little fan-fun thing. Cat said she might write some shorfics about them, and if she gets Flash on her computer she MIGHT (not very much chance, though) animate one or two of these episodes. So thar.

Anyway, as for ideas of my own... ooh! Here's a good one! XD (In your version of before the Balto movies, weren't Jenna and Steele dating at a time?) Anyway, here's what one idea could be;

Jenna, Dixie and Sylvie are chatting in the boiler room (or wherever they like) and Sylvie is pressuring Dixie into telling them who she likes. Dixie is beginning to have her mega-crush on Steele, but she can't tell them that, because Jenna is dating him. So instead, Dixie lies and says that it's Kaltag that she has crush on. Jenna and Sylvie both swear to secrecy, but of course Sylvie has to go and tell. She tells Kaltag, and he says that he's not really interested in girls at the moment, and that Dixie's a bit small anyway. Dixie gets extremely upset, because now everyone thinks she likes Kaltag, so she refuses to talk to Sylvie. Jenna is upset that her friends are fighting so she tries to get Sylvie to apologise. She won't, so Dixie has to tell Jenna the truth about her feelings for Steele. In the end, all is good again, and Dixie is openly admitting that Steele is "positively magnesium". Jenna isn't totally comfortable with the idea, but is... tolerant.
