Dmitri, a dragon of mixed scales, was scouting the region of a new island - Berk. He had been traveling for miles upon miles in an attempt to escape. To escape... Horrible images entered his mind as he recalled a strange figure, creeping in the night and attempting to capture the gold on black colored reptile. The two-legged figure had pulled out a sharpened object of metal, trying to control the medium-sized dragon and succeeding only in scaring Dmitri out of his wits.

He had been followed shortly with more two-legged creatures, and by the time the newly adult dragon had escaped, he never wanted to see another human again. This had been his first encounter. And he certainly hoped it would be his last.

The golden undersides of Dmitri's long wings began to shine brightly against the light of the sky. His wing span, though larger than most dragons his size, was made mostly for speed. Not for strength. That was why, although they were lengthy, they were skinny too. His golden eyes finally found a suitable spot to rest. He nested between a large group of trees, sighing with delight as he felt the cool grass beneath his scales.
