Hope for a sequel?
Disney stopped making DTV sequels with The Little Mermaid 3 so I believe it would have to be theatrical - and I doubt it.

I don't think so.
The Lion King is clearly a trilogy, so I don't think there will be another one. Besides, many people (including myself) have made complaints that Disney DVDs have considerably dropped in quality because of certain inconveniences on recent titles. This is clearly evident after seeing 'Ariel's Beginning'. It has become a major problem within the company and Disney has taken little to no action to rectify the situation.
Unless Disney DVDs return to being the way they were before, they would only tarnish the legacy of The Lion King Trilogy by making another one. Nobody wants that.
I wish there was a way to take these 'Lion King 4' speculations off the board and move them someplace else. They have absolutely nothing to do The Lion King 1 1/2.
