I can't stress how important this is. If you haven't heard about Joseph Kony and the horrible things he's done yet, please take the time to click on that link and learn about him. Everyone can make a difference. Everyone has a voice. This needs to get out to as many people as possible. Pass it on!

I literally watched the video a few minutes ago and was so touched. I got on Facebook and it was everywhere, and now it's here. Wow.

I couldn't believe what i was watching when the video was finished.
Like, seriously.
Me and a few friends started planning already where we're gonna meet up on April 20th to spread the word.

I just watched that, and I have to say, I am VERY moved by this. As soon as I cn, I wilspread the word about it. I honestly DON'T CARE if people reject me over this or whatever, I AM going to spread the word.

I watched this a few days ago. And I was really touched by this.

But my teachers are saying the video is a bit of a scam. They're saying only 1/3 of all profits actually go toward helping the cause, while the rest of the money go toward making movies and travel costs. They also say we don't even know at this point if Kony is even alive, since we havent seen him in so long.

My teachers do have a point, but I don't think the video is a complete scam. The purpose of this was to raise awareness of it, and the awareness has definitely been raised.

^ I heard about this too. I don't know if I'd buy anything from them knowing this, but I can't buy stuff from them anyway. And their main focus is making Kony popular right? I see no harm in that, so I do what I can.

The Today Show interviewed Jason Russel earlier today. I didn't go to school today so I watched it our of curiosity of what he'd say. xD

Just figured I'd throw this onto this topic:

The video isn't perfectly accurate either, there are some fundamental problems with it.
1) They give money to the Ugandan government, who have used child soldiers;
2) Kony has not operated in Uganda for 6 years;
3) The Ugandan government have been accused of genocide while trying to find Kony;
4) They fail to discuss what will happen to the children who have already become soldiers;
5) Almost all of the video clips they used from Uganda were all pre-2006, there has been virtual peace in Uganda since and;
6) By over-pubisicing Kony, it will now make him a lot harder to find.

Nevertheless, I do support the arrest of Kony and plan to visit the poster-fest; even if only to get some video clips.

While I certainly support the arrest and conviction of such an evil human being, it is kind of hard to take the video seriously when stuff like THIS happens (beyond the fact that, having to sit through the first several minutes of that video, I was bored to tears and more than ready to click away from it):

Lol, that bit of news is everywhere. Shame on Invisible Children, really. They already have a bad reputation and that incident only makes things worse.

Also, since I haven't posted after my OP post for this topic, I'll paste what I posted on another forum.

For my viewpoint since I haven't replied in here since I saw the video is more of an "in the grey / middle of sides" opinion now. I think it's an excellent cause and it's very inspirational. The main point of KONY 2012 is to spread awareness of Kony, and it worked. It is true that Invisible Children isn't a good organization and has a pretty bad rap, but as for the purpose overall about Kony it's a good message. Since the "experiment" worked so many people have shown that when we know we have a voice we can do big things. And it's true: with the technology and social networks we have today we can spread so much word and get to power. It's better than petitions almost, though petitions are a good way of having a voice as well. Since we've seen how fast and far word can spread with people this could be an excellent sign for future causes, problems, and campaigns. Not everyone has to spend money (I haven't spent a thing to IC) but they can share what's going on to those who can afford to give. Kony's even made it to media within days, which is incredible! So many people have complained about "he's been going at this for 26 years, why start now" but that's the thing: why not? Why shouldn't we start now? It's better than never.
The reason I'm not all for this IS the fact that IC isn't a good charity holder rather than others. Not all charities are golden and wonderful but IC has more of a bad rap than others, and for true reasons. There should be far more money going to the cause rather than to videos and travel expenses. Uganda can do fine without so many visits from them and they can post blogs on the internet of what's going on rather than make video after video. (I was subscribed to Invisible Children on YouTube to be notified via e-mail on new videos and there was AT LEAST one every day, which got me to the point where I was so annoyed that I unsubscribed.) "Cover the Night" is also a very potentially dangerous kind of protesting that threatens vandalism, though despite that I'm joining in it anyway. I do still support spreading awareness.
So given this, I'm kind of liberal about it but at the same time find KONY 2012 positive and important. It's just the rest of Invisible Children that's really suspicious and isn't very good.
