Okay, so it's been almost 6 years since the Platinum Edition of "Walt Disney's happiest film" last barked onto DVD [the 50th Anniversary edition, even though it was a year late], and now it's being released for the first time on Blu-Ray!

...and back again on DVD, if you didn't get it any of the previous times.

Here, have some pictures of the previous and upcoming releases...

At least this version is only available in widescreen format [2.55:1 ratio, to be exact!]. The Pan-and-Scan Fullscreen version of older editions are just plain AWFUL; I don't recommend them one bit.

So, is anyone getting this new DVD/Blu-Ray combo pack [or the new DVD version]? I can tell you that I'm more satisfied with the Platinum Edition that I'm not upgrading. Plus, most of the bonus features are the same, save for some new ones on the Blu-Ray. The new unreleased song makes me curious... but it doesn't seem worth it just to re-buy the whole movie.

Also, I sorta wish the DVD edition cover wasn't so zoomed into the new shot of Lady and Tramp with their spaghetti. The combo pack reuses the previous edition's art of the title characters and Tony singing with his accordion [except he's mirrored], but it's rather boring. Neat... but BORING.

[A foreign DVD cover [language ID please? I'm thinking Hungarian or something Slavic.] of "Scamp's Adventure"... hnnng, I hope the combo pack's cover looks THIS good - NO, this is not the re-re-release cover; the official one hasn't been revealed yet. The first re-release cover was TERRIBLE. Ick.]

Also, just like the midquel "Bambi II" right after its predecessor's Diamond Edition release, I hear Lady and the Tramp's DTV sequel, "Scamp's Adventure" is getting a combo pack release later this year too, but according to DVDDizzy, a lot of other classics are getting the re-release treatment [and some new movies too], including the following films:

I apologize for going into other animated stuff, but this is mostly about Lady and the Tramp! Also, all images were found using Google Images, including that beautiful "Scamp's Adventure" DVD cover! I think it's European only, as it had a PAL release. Wah, bring this cover here, Disney... please?

I'm considering this, as my platinum edition is in bad bad shape. Disc 2 doesn't work very well anymore. Not sure how good the DVD is anymore either. Otherwise I probably wouldn't bother with getting a new copy.

oh yay beverly hills chiwhawha 3 anyway its already out here in ireland im getting it soon

...I guess that's a good excuse to upgrade. Either that or you could get another copy of the PE. [PE = Platinum Edition]

I Bought the DVD of the first. Sadly Missed out on the sequals Blu - Ray release. I love the first cover on here.
