Just a short rant, but people on this site seem to only pick from these options when making characters: Wolf, Wolfdog, Husky and German Shepherd. The wolfdogs are annoying enough as it is. PLEASE, I repeat, PLEASE be a little more open-minded when you are choosing a breed for your character.

I've seen a lot of collie mixes too. I guess members think that just because there are so many of them, that their character would be more popular if they used that breed/mix (when it doesn't). I dunno lol. But it is annoying to see, I agree.

Was it you that made the character guide? Maybe that could be something to add to it, if you haven't already. Then maybe in the next news we could do a special about characters and have a bunch of links to guides/tutorials. Not making any new rules, but just little tips and suggestions.

I did make a guide on designs, but not for breeds. I know Nattikay has a guide for characters.

^ Maybe you should've mentioned this there then? No offense intended, Mighty, but this topic does seem familiar. Like it might've been mentioned in Natti's guide already. I know redundant species has been a common issue for characters for a LONG time. (I have too many wolf characters myself but that's a different story.)

I do gave a character guide, but I didn't mention much about what breed/species to choose because I was trying to make it more generalized towards making any type of character rather than BaltoSource-specific. I have been planning to make some revises to it, though, so I could include that.

Anyways. Yes, it is rather irritating that these breeds seem to be the default for characters, and not just on AnimationSource. Now, granted, two of the three characters of mine that have pages here are a husky and a wolfdog, but seeing as one is Balto's daughter and the other is his father, they kind of have to be. XD

If this topic isn't totally dead, I'd like to add, mabey people only use those types because that's all they can draw ( if they drew it anyway).

Err no. Most people here don't even draw their characters, they just render or use a lineart. And it doesn't require skill (well, a render would if they were converting it from another character) to make a render or lineart look like what it's suppose to.

We now have character-specific mods, so hopefully they can help resolve this issue.

Well, that's why I said even IF they drew it. There's a difference.
