SETTING ::

Nome, Alaska - November, 1940


PLOT ::

With a particuarly cold Winter becoming more and more unbearable, food and supplies are becoming more and more scarce, and are needed more than ever. Families are cold and starving, and children are becoming ill. The only reliable way of getting said supplies is, you guessed it, sled dogs. needing to cross some of the harshest landscape and survive the cruelest weather conditions known to man, this will not be an easy task. But the people are desperate, and need the dogs more than ever.

After many races, the fastest team is picked, naturally. But nothing can prepare them for the wild, dangerous and exciting adventure they are about to face - especially when they meet face to face with a pack of wolves..

RULES ::

yep, the bit everyone hates. x) Don't worry, there won't be much.

+ no god-modding. Your character ISN'T invincible, and can die.
+ don't kill off someone's character without asking them first.
+ i have no problem with violence (it's expected) and swearing. however, for the rules' sake, please star out swears.
+ team relationships are encouraged - whether it's romance or rivalry!
+ no wolf-dogs, as they are incredibly dangerous and useless sled dogs.
+ no 'future mates' or anything like that. i want the characters and story to develop before we set anything in stone. crushes are allowed though.
+ this is semi-advanced, so please have at least 5 lines, in fairly decent detail.
+ all acceptable dog breeds can be found here.
+ please have interesting and original characters.
+ if you're absent, please let me know asap so i can pause the rp until you return.

Personality: She's very much a typical lead-dog. She's a sensible, no-nonsense girl with a proud air and almost snobbish attitude. Discipline is what made her into what she is, and it's the same tactics she uses on her team. But she has a soft heart underneath her stern exterior, and can be very calm and friendly once you get to know her - after getting on her good side. Loyal and determined to the end, it's no wonder she was chosen to lead the team in a time of chaos.

History: Ever since she was young, Skoda's been trained hard to be a lead dog someday, since she has a proud bloodline of lead dogs to live up to. She was born right into her musher's family, where she stayed with her parents after her brothers and sisters were adopted, because she was the oldest and the strongest with the most potential. She loved her family with all her heart, and worked hard to make them proud.
When she was 2, she was put to work as a team dog for the mail services. She was so fast and reliable that she was made lead dog in no time, and was finally given the chance to prove herself and make her family proud. The training had been tough, but she had pulled through and achieved her goal.

Personality: Mika is, to put it bluntly, a naughty boy and a rebellious goof-off, with a witty and sarcastic personality. He's impatient and HATES authority from other dogs and being told what to do. But he's incredibly fast and competitive and loyal to his musher, which is what makes him such a great sled dog. He's very playful, and loves nothing more than a good wrestle.

History: Ever since he was a pup, Mika's always been a pest. Bullying his siblings, making a mess of the house, nipping, barking at night.. his parents' owners were more than happy to get rid of him! He was sold to a musher, who saw potential in him and trained him hard. Despite his mischevous and carefree nature, Mika's confidence, boundless energy and lightning speed made him into a good sled dog. He was loyal to his master, and no one else, and his master had always had the softest spot for him. Mika's always been a part of Skoda's team, and the two really don't get on well due to their clashing personalities. But, since they're both so fast, they're stuck together. The musher's hoping this new and exciting opportunity could be Mika's chance to shine.

Age: Three Years
Breed: Woolly-Coated Siberian Husky Mix, classified as Alaskan Husky
Personality: A very tender female, it's believed she is the eldest on the team at a mature age of 5 years. She isn't one to speak much and would much rather listen to everyone else, a set follower. Maya doesn't complain and ends up hiding most of her emotions very well from others, but will voice out if she feels the need to defend them or back them up. Very loyal to humans, she's tending to look back at the musher every now and then. Maya is secretly very competitive and can run on end,, very nimble footed she makes wonderful quick turns. Sweet, docile, loyal and quiet would be the words that best describe her.

History: Majikku was born somewhere in Canada, in a litter of three puppies. It was her mother's first litter and the owners were excited, they made out to take good care of the young family. All was going well until about 2 years later, when the young man was out of his job and they where forced to move out of Canada. They couldn't take all the dogs with them, so had to sell the puppies and the mother, keeping only the male dog. Majikku was the first one sold to a family with two little boys whom lived in Alaska. She seemed to fit right in with them, letting the boys toy her around with the sled, and even managed a few trips to her new master's lake. But the wife had grown fond of her and she was now spending her days in home with the mistress, following her a few steps of wherever she turned. Months later, a new dog was brought it, a rust male and the kids all fell for him just like they did for her before. She would watch them being pulled around by him in the sled and would smile. They didn't get to see much of each other, but somehow they loved each other like big sister, little brother. *And now you can read the last part of Chinos history to fin out some more xD*

Personality: A male with a good heart, but not such good thoughts. He had almost been the runt of the litter if it hadn't been for another sister on the way. For him, his mentality was faster then his body, and he was always found astride from the others. He loved to watch nature and stare at snow for hours on end, just because his mind was blank for the time being. He loved his sisters dearly though, there was one in particular that stood out, the blond Skoda, she was the eldest of the sisters and Chino would let her think she could boss him around too. He didn't mind, and didn't care, just made sure she was safe from harm. Overall a gentle dog with a powerful drive and strength & endurance to back it up. It's believed that on recent terms, he's grown jealous over his sister.

History: When it came time for the puppies to find homes, Chino was the last one to do so. He was never in the pen when they were being put in display, and was found by a town man outside a butcher's shop. He took him back to his owners, but when they to him he was for sale, he quickly bought the pup. Chino noted that the eldest had stayed with his old family and his parents and this deeply stirred him, but there was no one to tell and no one to listen. Being brought to his new house, two boys nearly hugged him to death and he remembers the times he played with them. There had been a female pup as well, but he barely got to see her since she was always with the mistress. They would hitch him up to a small sled and have him pull them around as the months drew by. His owner was a fisherman and he would take Chino along and the two would spend days out by the lakes. Chino would defend, and the man would hunt. Their bond was growing strong, a man's best friend was labeled to the lovely red rust male.

Twenty months later, one of the two boys passed away, he had been ill for some months now. Sadly the winter was getting harsher and meaner so the family had been unable to leave their house to find medication. But they weren't the only ones with this problem, everyone else in town was trapped too. They could only resort to dog sledding and so the races began. Chino would watch them run, and then go back home, day in and day out. After the sled team had finally been chosen, his owner quickly reacted. Since two of the dogs on the team could not make the perilous journey, they were about to cancel. His owner had both him and the lovely female at his sides and he passed them onto the musher. The musher, of curse was skeptical, but he wasn't in a position to say no. He took both and set them on the open slots, Chino very unaware that it was his sister in the lead, but he would surely find out soon enough.

"OMG I'M ON FIRE!"

Name: Fang (his close friends call him Bullet)
Gender: Male
Age: 2 1/2 human years (16 dog years)
Breed: Canadian Eskimo Dog
Personality: Fang could be considered overly enthusiastic, a bit too adventurous, but otherwise a kind and caring soul. He tends to try and lighten up the mood whenever he feels it needs to be or whenever someone is sad or unhappy. He's very curious, and that tends to get the best of him. His adventurous side combined with his curiousity makes for a dangerous pairing. Fang tends to go first and ask questions later. He never really thinks about the consequences, but does what he feels he needs to in the moment. If it wasn't obvious already, this is what gets him into trouble. But despite all these attributes to his personality, he isn't very hyper. He's rather mellow and calm most of the time. Make no mistake, though. His nickname is Bullet for a reason. He's quick as lightning and it would take a miracle to be able to catch him when he tries his hardest at speed. This can usually get him out of tight situations (the dangers he faces is the other half of the reason to his nickname) but it doesn't work if he's surrounded or trapped.

History: Fang and Banshee were born in the pound. They were not supposed to be, but their mother gave birth to them just before she was to be spayed. Upon being seperated from their mother and put into a different shelter, they were transported by way of sled. It was then that they knew what they wanted to become. Destiny doesn't always plan it out that way, though. Fang wanted to just get away. He knew they were headed to another place like the one they had just left from, so he jumped off the sled, yelling for Banshee to come along. Banshee was hesitant, but eventually jumped off and followed his brother. Not long after that, they landed in the city they were supposed to be taken to but this time on their own. They were able to survive as street dogs until they were about one year old. It was then that they were taken into the world of sled racing. They managed to find an owner who would teach them to be sled dogs, but let them have their freedom as well. They loved it and wouldn't change it for the world.

Personality: Banshee is a rather quiet dog, but is not anti-social and will talk to the group when he feels it's right. He never gets into danger on his own, but feels he has to protect his older brother (by a few minutes) every chance he can't just run. Banshee is a medium speed runner, so he was placed towards the back, but has a very good outlook on life. He considers himself and his brother lucky and doesn't complain much for anything. He'll take anything that comes at him without so much as a nip of selfishness. When it comes to being brave, he's average at it. He can be brave enough to protect his brother and face danger, but there comes a certain point where he can't handle holding back the fear any longer.
Parents: Not sure of their status or whereabouts, but doesn't seem to remember them much anyway
