Just wondering if anyone has seen Mulan II. I didn't know it existed until a few months ago.
I rented it, and was expecting it to be bad (since most sequels are); however, I was pleasantly surprised.
It's not as good as the first Mulan, but it's still a great movie. I highly suggest it to any Mulan fans.
Mulan is more of a push-over at the beginning, but eventually returned to the old Fa Mu Lan. I'm interested to see if
anyone else watched Mulan II, and if so did you like it? :D

I liked it. The story was fresh, and it stayed true to the original (to an extent). The songs were cute and fun, and I loved the princesses and the love story they have with the trio, it's so adorable. xD I just... hated Mushu. >.>

MAJOR SPOILER ALERT FOR THOSE WHO HAVEN'T SEEN IT

Mushu, was ruined in the second one for me too, but I guess he made up at the end.

It wasn't a bad sequel in my opinion, though.

[long time no post, yes?]

I thought it was a very Girl-Power-centric film for a sequel... It was good to see girls being so strong in a time period when women only did the traditional chores and stayed in the house. Mulan wasn't up to how awesome she was in the original movie, but I agree that she was showing her smarts and spirit. Neither was Mushu [voice changes can do that. Remember Balto and Jenna in their sequels? Eek.]; he was more annoying and pointless in my opinion, but at least his awful antics helped as a catalyst for the entire movie. At least the Gang of Three remained awesome from the original and the addition of the three princesses was a good choice too, so they kept my attention more than on the sequel's flaws.

Not the best sequel by Disney, but it's high up there.

It was a good movie with the first. I just hated how Mushu was and everything. They should of changed him and made him more happy. The songs were okay but not okay as the first one. I like how they had the Warriors from the first movie, it was a good idea. But I didnt like how Mulan and The genral were always fight ing  Got annoying

I totally agree. Another thing that really annoyed me what how the movie started out... it sort of seemed like Mulan was going to settle in as a "happy homemaker." I'm really glad that's not how it ended up.

The balance of girlie-girl and warrior-girl worked really well in the end. :alien:

Same here. I saw it because i was quite curious, but didn't like it at all. It's the same i said for Brother Bear 2: it's useless to make sequels of stories already completed in themselves. Why not trying with new projects?

^ Agreed. Agreed.

Just more of Disney's 'no one dies alone' thing. I watched it once AAAAAAAAAAGES ago. Can't even remember what all happened. So I must not have liked it that much.

Well, the story was rather basic. Nothing that special - except for that one scene near the end - but it was predictable.

And this "no one dies alone" thing? That's a new term on me, but it makes sense. If it's an accidental or unexpected sort of thing [like with the non-Disney Shrek], then that's okay; however, if it's forced onto someone or into a story... well, it's not really that special, is it?

^ Hehe, well the "no one dies alone" thing is more of an epiphany that I had. If Disney makes a sequel, and it's not a flashback [ex: F&tH 2, Bambi 2], then they're recovering their tracks and matching characters with a love interest.
Even if the first movie WAS a romance or had romance in it! I'm sorry, but I just find it annoying and it's not very original anymore [if it ever was].
That may just be Disney's thing though, but I don't remember that being a motto of theirs or something.

I've seen Mulan ll before, it was no where near as good as the first, but I thought it was an ok movie.

I remember this to be one of the last direct-to-video sequels ever made, and these were the best. (Also pretty much liked Bambi 2, Emperor's new groove 2, TLK 1 1/2... despite their reputation)

They did improve on these sequels, both from a technical aspect and story, but probably too late : they already damaged their reputation and hurt the sales.
That's a shame because some like Mulan 2 ended up being pretty good, despite being unnecessary.
