Just wondering if anyone has seen Mulan II. I didn't know it existed until a few months ago. I rented it, and was expecting it to be bad (since most sequels are); however, I was pleasantly surprised. It's not as good as the first Mulan, but it's still a great movie. I highly suggest it to any Mulan fans. Mulan is more of a push-over at the beginning, but eventually returned to the old Fa Mu Lan. I'm interested to see if anyone else watched Mulan II, and if so did you like it?

I liked it. The story was fresh, and it stayed true to the original (to an extent). The songs were cute and fun, and I loved the princesses and the love story they have with the trio, it's so adorable. xD I just... hated Mushu. >.> MAJOR SPOILER ALERT FOR THOSE WHO HAVEN'T SEEN IT

Shang's 'death' scene was... really really dramatic and intense. Definitely surprising for a sequel. Mulan's reactions and devastation were portrayed so perfectly.. I can't help but deeply feel for her when it happens, and don't even want to imagine how she's feeling.. I give the film a lot of credit for that, because it's a sequel, and is done so well. Of course he's not dead, but yanno.. it definitely seemed like he was. xD

Mushu, was ruined in the second one for me too, but I guess he made up at the end.

As for Shangs death scene, I was like riight... he's not dead. But it was rather dramtic. It wasn't a bad sequel in my opinion, though.

[long time no post, yes?] I thought it was a very Girl-Power-centric film for a sequel... It was good to see girls being so strong in a time period when women only did the traditional chores and stayed in the house. Mulan wasn't up to how awesome she was in the original movie, but I agree that she was showing her smarts and spirit. Neither was Mushu [voice changes can do that. Remember Balto and Jenna in their sequels? Eek.]; he was more annoying and pointless in my opinion, but at least his awful antics helped as a catalyst for the entire movie. At least the Gang of Three remained awesome from the original and the addition of the three princesses was a good choice too, so they kept my attention more than on the sequel's flaws.

And yes, the whole climatic scene of Shang's "death" was some of the most powerful stuff I'd seen in a sequel too.
And it was in a DISNEY movie sequel, nonetheless.
Holy crap. Double whammy. Not the best sequel by Disney, but it's high up there. - Juuchan17

It was a good movie with the first. I just hated how Mushu was and everything. They should of changed him and made him more happy. The songs were okay but not okay as the first one. I like how they had the Warriors from the first movie, it was a good idea. But I didnt like how Mulan and The genral were always fight ing Got annoying

Quote: But I didnt like how Mulan and The genral were always fight ing Got annoying I totally agree. Another thing that really annoyed me what how the movie started out... it sort of seemed like Mulan was going to settle in as a "happy homemaker." I'm really glad that's not how it ended up. The balance of girlie-girl and warrior-girl worked really well in the end.

Question wrote: Myeh, didn't really care for it. I rented it and was like, "ehh...next movie please." Same here. I saw it because i was quite curious, but didn't like it at all. It's the same i said for Brother Bear 2: it's useless to make sequels of stories already completed in themselves. Why not trying with new projects?

Just more of Disney's 'no one dies alone' thing. I watched it once AAAAAAAAAAGES ago. Can't even remember what all happened. So I must not have liked it that much. Well, the story was rather basic. Nothing that special - except for that one scene near the end - but it was predictable. And this "no one dies alone" thing? That's a new term on me, but it makes sense. If it's an accidental or unexpected sort of thing [like with the non-Disney Shrek], then that's okay; however, if it's forced onto someone or into a story... well, it's not really that special, is it? - Juuchan17

I've seen Mulan ll before, it was no where near as good as the first, but I thought it was an ok movie.
