Ok so, I have been reading a LOT of articles and UI recently watch Balto 2. Some people think that Nava could be Balto's father or his uncle. I don't think so. He's clearly his brother. At the end of the movie, when Aleu left for the pack and Nava and Balto were talking. Before the movie ended completely, Nava's words were this. "Goodbye my brother". Therefore Nava is his brother. Maybe, maybe not. But its a hunch. Then Balto saw Aniu , his mother, and the movie ended.

As others have said, 'brother' was a term of respect and friendship. I personally don't think there was any intended biological relation. It's funny how many people assume because the coloration is similar, that they're related. It's not 'because Nava looks like Balto, they must be brothers,' it's more like 'Balto is half wolf, Nava is a wolf, therefore Balto looks a bit like a wolf.' (In which case he should because he's half wolf)
Speculation is always fun, but everyone needs to develop the skills to tell when something is serious speculation, empty coincidence, or in this case the obvious.
(No offense intended, this isn't a personal attack. Simply a little post, stating my opinion.)

-nods- What David and AWJ said. I doubt there was any blood relation intended by the writers between Nava and Balto; I don't think their relationship goes further than acquaintances or perhaps even friends in canon.
If you'd like to say they're related in a made-up fan way, though, feel free to as long as you don't insist that that's how it is in canon. I myself rather like the idea of Nava being Aniu's brother and therefore Balto's uncle, but there's absolutely zero proof of that in the movie. -shrug-

'Brother' is/was used by native's and nomadic tribal's of North America and Canada usually as to close friends or family in villages, or in this case, the wolf pack. As for Nava being related to Aniu, I really see little to no similarities between them, possibly, but no, probably not.

My suggestion is that we all not start loading up this almost duplicate topic with posts, but rather follow the other suggestion already made, and stick with the original topic. And since I am sure someone's going to ask: /board/could-nava-be-balto-s-grandfather-t35163.html
