Just a few further thoughts on the issue, since I've had time to flesh them out a bit more:

I think that it would be good for Judy to pair up with someone who shared her moral position. She and Nick make a good team, but I think he lead her to compromise a bit too much and would continue to do so down the road, so I'd like to see someone come along to balance that out.

I've already seen one original fan character, on the French mirror of Zootopia Source (a recent submission), that someone created as an offspring of Nick and Judy...and basically appears like a tracing of a Judy graphic anyway. But I don't like the idea of mixed species like this. Especially so since Byron Howard and Richard Moore clarified that they wouldn't be doing such things officially. Because science has a rather inconvenient habit of getting in the way of way-out-there fantasy fan imaginings. lol

Believe me, this illogical take on these two is driving me nuts as well. I'm a logical person, and anything that isn't makes my brain hurt. Even if a shipping did make sense, the whole idea bugs me anyway.

Because fandom.

Now see, when I do fantasy I try to at least make it work with science (e.g. a mermaid and a human can't have kids because the DNA won't match up) - but then I do realize that actually making sense is a minority trait whether one is openly dealing in fantasy or not.

Well, at least within the broader fandom online.

But really, there should always be some elements of believability, logic and rationality even in pure fantasy. Otherwise, it is chaos. And fantasy isn't chaos.

And that's a pretty BIG "but" around here.

On another track, I've been mulling over what kind of respective matches would be ideal for each of them. Judy in particular is a difficult one, but I'm thinking that for a guy to complete her he would have to, in some way, cultivate her strengths as a character since she doesn't have that many real weaknesses (e.g. she's not temperamental, so she doesn't need someone to stop her and tell her to take a chill pill).

Any thoughts on that?

This just in: someone told me that Rich Moore said Nick and Judy would be co-habiting in a sequel (Heaven help us). I'm not convinced, but they said it was on his Twitter page and in an interview on some TV channel. Anyone know anything about that?

This sounds more like a hoax in my opinion. The idea of pairing them is a popular one, so there are bound to be false claims out there. I don't know about a interview (someone is possibly playing off of an existing interview), but there isn't anything on his Twitter page about this.

It has already been confirmed, in a past interview, that Byron and Rich see them more as good friends. They also want to stay in the real of realism, so even if they weren't officially married, that still goes against nature.

With some further digging, Rich moore confirmed, on July 9th, that there are no plans for Zootopia 2 at this time, so this is indeed a rumor. Still, I don't know what this "animated short " that might win an Oscar (this post: https://twitter.com/OfficalJPB/status/7 ... 9023205376) is about. I think someone has twisted something. lol

Rumors always abound on the internet with any popular property. Zootopia is one such example. And the cohabitation/relationship/eventual offspring thing is one ridiculous concept that a certain element of the Zootopia fandom seem to not want to let go in spite of clear decisions and announcements from official sources which debunk and absolutely destroy it.

Because people cannot grow up, be mature and let...it...go. If they cannot get it through hoping and incessant chatter, they'll keep trying to get it through incessant pestering, pressuring and pushing. Or so they believe. Stupid is still stupid, as far as I am concerned.

I am very much inclined to agree with you. However, since I've been talking with this person for manners' sake, I thought it best to put my ear to the ground.
