It seemed so long ago that Sarepoint City was once safe, but really it had been little over a month. Now the undead prowled every street and the few survivors that were left had either fled or stayed in hiding. No-one had the courage to try and recover the city, to try and rid it of the zombie infestation. Until now..
Alexis Chambers sat in the dark space, the sounds of deep growling and inhuman groans all around her. The undead had somehow broken through the barricade she had built around the house and smashed through the boarded-up windows. They were now inside the house and she had no choice but to go into hiding in her closet. Alexis used to work for the police force, but when the zombies had taken over she'd been wise and hidden within her home. Over time she had built a barricade around the house and boarded up the windows. But now it seemed all her hard work would go to waste, the zombies would surely locate her hiding spot soon. 'This is it...' She thought. Then her hand knocked against something small but tough and heavy. It was her pistol and she realised with a grin that it still had bullets in it. 'I'll fight my way out, I refuse to die tonight!'
Alexis kicked the door down, raising her gun and aiming for the nearest zombie's skull. She fired then aimed for the next undead creature limping slowly toward her. When the room was clear she slowly checked the hall and the other rooms, there were no more zombies on the second floor. Slowly she descended the stairs, her gun raised just incase she would run into any nasty surprises. She looked left into the living room, there were no zombies in there, she looked right into the kitchen, there were a few zombies in there. Stealthily she crept up to the archway that led into the kitchen, her gun still raised. It took a lot of willpower not to just run away from the kitchen and go back into hiding, but she managed to stand her ground. 'This is my house, I have to clear out the intruders.' She thought. Alexis peered around the wall, trying her best not to be seen. Fortunately they did not see her, unfortunately they could smell her and the scent of human flesh was driving them crazy. Quickly she stepped into the kitchen and fired off the remaining rounds in her gun, each zombie dropped to the ground and lay still. "Ugh...I hate the smell of zombies in the morning." She muttered, making a face at the stench of rotting flesh and the sight of maggots pouring out of the bullet holes. She walked quickly over to the fridge. Most of the food was out of date and the water supply was running low. She checked the cupboard to find that some of the food had been destroyed by the undead and there was only a few cans of soup and a packet of potato chips left. 'I can't stay here anymore, I'll starve...That is, if the zombies don't get to me first.' She thought, and the thought alone made her cringe. Alexis grabbed her backpack which was lying conveniantly on the kitchen floor and stuffed the water, soup cans and potato chips into the front pocket. "If I don't find more supplies and survivors soon I won't live to see the sunrise." She muttered, tossing her empty gun to the floor. She grabbed her twin desert eagles and placed them in her gunbelt, then shoved a knife, a box of matches and a length of rope into the back pocket of her backpack. "It won't last me long, but I'll just have to make do with what I have right now."
