Am I the only one who is annoyed by characters rendered wit exact body type out of Balto and Jenna saying they are German Shepherds or Border Collies? Did you people even bother to check out that not every dog looks like Husky? It's great that you make some more original breeds (though I'm kinda anoyed by GSD and Border Collies. They are secont top after Huskies and wolves...) but at least put some try to make your character resemble it's breed. Colours and markings are not enough...
Also Jenna's body without any modifications is totally not good for wolves...

ROFL I saw that comment you made. I agree. Totally. And for her to be using a standard stock line art tracing of Jenna to do the character, instead of drawing it herself, that's just rather irritating. Nothing against her otherwise, but I DO agree with you on this.

I honestly think they do that because they're too lazy to make it look right.
Kids, you don't have to use a base that is from the Balto movies. In fact, I think it would be better if you didn't, seeing the same images is very boring. Draw it yourself, which is what I would strongly suggest, or go on DA and find a lineart that fits your needs.

Guys, you're expecting too much. Especially from the younger generation. Just saying.

Advice isn't bad, and we should suggest to them to make their line arts look like the type of dog they're doing. But I also agree with Brown Wolf that we shouldn't expect every child to be perfect at making line arts/renders look like their character. None of us were perfect starting out. But that is what suggestions and advice are for

Just because people are young and just make everything on the same wolf or husky lineart the whole time doesn't mean older people can't be disappointed that characters that are listed as "Dalmation" "Labrador" "Golden Retriever" etc. look like every other wolf or husky on the site.
It's not like there's a lack of free lineart of other breeds either, a quick deviantART search for "-whatever breed- lineart" will give you some.

^ THIS. Of course, this is a growing problem. A couple of English-side moderators are increasingly singling out comments by myself, MightyBalto1925, Sakujo and, now, even Elizaveta (who simply posted in support of Sakujo in a recent and similar situation on Balto Source)...and probably some others as well for all I know. They seem to feel we're purposefully out to be rude, mean and irrelevant for its own sake. And every time I point it out, I get a litany of vitriol and the smacking of the down (and trust me, it will happen again). Freaking ridiculous.I don't know...when I last looked over the rules of this site, I saw no mention of Animation Source ascribing to the teachings of Karl Marx or Vladimir Lenin. Or the tactics of Josef Stalin. Or of becoming a fascist state where its authorities could engage in "thought policing"...telling people how they should (and/or WILL) speak, comment, think, and act while logged into the site. Maybe they're taking tips from George Orwell, hmm? Hmm... Nope. None such...

I could draw many different breeds when I was 8 (even if they did look terrible, you could still tell roughly what breed it was)...there is no excuse whatever your age if you put a little effort in. Just people being lazy in my opinion...

I just reminded myself of one character I saw on BA. It was said to be pure Doberman, but it was rendered copletely out of Jenna. just... what? Huskies and Dobermans are not even alike. It's kinda annoying that "half Husky/half(insert different-looking breed)" is an excuse to make them look completely like Husky...
And seriously, how long you're gonna protect them saying "they are young"? Those weren't bad renders at all, they just have no invention to change anything in body type while tracing on the original lines. And I think that noticing differences between Husky, Collie and Doberman is a very basic knowledge.

Sakujo wrote: And seriously, how long you're gonna protect them saying "they are young"? It's a cheap, easy and stupid way to get more established and older (by age in this case) members to keep their mouths shut unless they opine in a way that is acceptable to those particular individuals. Nothing more. Oh they'll SAY it is something entirely different than that. But this is exactly what it really is. And only that.

As a husky owner, I bet you all can imagine how much this annoys me. :|
No, they DON'T look exactly like wolves. The anatomy and shapes are actually very different if people took the time to study them - something EVERYONE should do before they start drawing anything. And seriously.. German Shepherds? Are you kidding me? Yeah they got the same very BASIC shape but.. everything else is pretty much totally different. The head shape, the ears and muzzle, the neck, the back, the tail, the legs, the feet... so yes, everything. Comparing huskies to Border Collies is even worse.. we've had our husky with border collies, and again - totally different.
Using huskies as a base to draw other dogs is a TERRIBLE idea. Why can't people just stop being lazy, and draw those dogs AS those dogs, and not as totally different breeds from different groups and bloodlines? I agree, using the whole "they're only young!" argument shouldn't be used. It's better to teach these kids how to do it properly and educate them about breeds of different shapes and sizes before they rely on husky bases for the rest of their lives.

Actually, you make a pretty good argument here. It's animated, people. It's not intended to be realistic. So, quit trying to make up realistic reasons for it. The proof of Balto and Jenna's breeds are in Balto 2, when Balto says to Aleu, "Your mother is a purebred Husky." He later says, "My dad was a Husky who had pups with a wolf."

It is quite apparent that you have no idea what the OP is arguing for. Because Sakujo ("Troll Berserker") is NOT saying "it's animated, people. It's not intended to be realistic. So, quit trying to make up realistic reasons for it". Not in the least. So if you actually think that, then you cannot possibly think she's making "a pretty good argument here".Read through the posts and interpret them before you respond. It will only help.

Yep, someone totally missed the point JC is right. Next time look at the posts above before you agree with us on something we did not write.
