Okay. So, we have this thing for "Sparkle" characters, which really should be called "Unrealistic," since they aren't really sparkly.

BUT

We have these people who OMG NO EVRYTHING ABUT EVRUTHING and complain if anything is just slightly off. Oh, I'm so sorry, I didn't know you'd disapprove of my character who's mane is freaking #fbd783 instead of #fcde97, is that not realistic enough for you? How about this nice deer that has unusual markings? Oh, you don't care... But OMGTHAT'SNOTREALISTIC:OIEHF.

We don't have to have it perfectly realistic, stop complaining, PLEASE. I'm sorry, but I really, really don't care if you have a mind that's too linear, that's not my fault. So I'll USE my creativity, thank you, whether you like it or not. I'm allowed to.

And you don't have the right to say unrealistic characters shouldn't be allowed AT ALL, because frankly, lots of people who watch, say, Balto don't know everything there is to know about dog patterns. Do you know what a blue merle is? And on the Bambi source, oh gosh, ANY movie with rabbits, I could easily flip out because I know EXACTLY what colors go with what, how they function, and what they look like. Sorry, I won't freak out because you have a brown-and-black rabbit or something, so don't flip out because my... I dunno, fox has the wrong colors together.

Seriously. Thoughts, anyone?

yeah I mean Dixie is a lavender color and Jenna is bright red. I mean, being realistic all the time gets kinda boring and in most cartoons, they have different colored dogs/deer and other animals etc that aren't realistic at all.Balto source used to be cool but ever since they enforced the role of being a realistic character, I barely post anymore. I made a new character awhile ago called"Acer".People complained cause I used Balto's leg and body markings but WITH different colors... but then again I see Aleu and Jenna clones everywhere and no one ways anything about it.I had to delete Acer and reupload his page cause people have complained so much it spammed up my character page. I mean just message me about for suggestions not to complain about it in public.

Wow... That's a bit pitiful. And on the Spirit Source, no one complains about buckskins or duns.... leg color can occur on more than one character IN THE UNIVERSE...

Sorry, but this all looks like a complain without any idea about site rules...

That's right, rules allow you to make a bit unrealistic markings and oversaturated colours ( examples - /sites_co ... db1197.png /sites_co ... ab76d7.png ) but it doesn't mean that people can't give you suggestions, critiques and advices how to improve your work. And you know what bothers me? That you seem you are calmly agreeing/accepting people's suggestions and then you complain and whine how you are rudely threaten, spammed and complained at...

I think Saske explained it very well lately (I'd probably say it with my own words instead of quoting but I'm tired and I can hardly focus. Plus those are words of moderator, thus, bigger authority)

Okay... It could be because I'm really tired from marching a two-mile parade(because I'm rather weak), but I don't understand. I'll admit I'm complaining, but about over-vocal people, not rules. It's an elitist attitude, not maintenance. ... And I'd like it if you could reword, because I don't understand...

And where did movie relation come from...? xD it's important(I admit I'm guilty of not being good enough about it), but... How does it relate to people complaining about unrealistic color pattern?

Let me axplain the simpliest way:
Person A: "I think you image/character/drawing needs improvement on this, this and that"
Person B: "Okay"
Person B later on forums/their profile/someone's profile: "OMG y people complain about my stuff so much how A could say this to me?"




Same story - someone tries to give limits on so-called "creativity" for the good of the site and people complain they have to do more movie-related stuff like, you know, it was a fan site or something?

You know, not everything realistic is horrible. xD
Going over-saturated is actually the way to go if you want a cartoony character. Not everything has to be 100% realistic, which I agree with. But if you're complaining about it because people are hurting your "creativity", then there must be something wrong about the color(s) itself. If you see something similar in the movie itself, make it like that for the amount level of saturation.


BUT, I encourage realistic characters just as much as I encourage the over saturated ones. Both can be fun characters.


Another thing, design doesn't always everything. If you're trying to make an incredibly standout character, give it a fleshed out bio portraying and covering ground for a well-developed character. Seriously. If people keep trying to bother you about the design, dA's always an option for "brighter" characters. Realistic characters are just as good as over saturated characters. None are specifically better than the other, but there ARE some naggy people on the sources. If it confuses you, I agree with most of the points you've made, but some I disagree with. LOL
Hope I was of some help. Just remember, everything revolves around the design itself of how people react. If people are going to keep pestering you, report and let the mods deal with it. It's their call.
