http://www.kimbellstock.comHISTORY: Meroo is a "Child of The Forest"; she knows her way around, and she's wary of strangers. One day, however, she fell for a handsome stranger, a wolf of mysterious origins, but he told her that he couldn't stay, and she never knew why. She now has his pup, and she wonders if she'll ever see her old sweetheart again, or if she should ever trust any other male wolves.
BEHAVIOR: Meroo behaves like a wild wolf. She hunts expertly, and she makes life as normal for Corey as she possibly can, raising him as she herself was raised, so that he will know exactly what to do in order to survive. Corey, for his part, is only a pup. He tries to learn from his mother, but he is an independent little cuss sometimes, and he reminds Meroo of his father, who was always a born leader, and sort of stubborn.
PERSONALITY: Meroo is mistrustful. She hides much of her disappointed sorrow behind a show of primal practicality, but, beneath her thick, fluffy, fleetingly flirtatious fur beats a frightened, and sometimes ultra warm heart. Corey is headstrong and curious, always wanting to know more than Meroo thinks is necessary for him to know. He is her sweetheart, her pride and joy, and her favorite creature in the world; she'd do anything in order to keep him safe, because, to her, he is so dear to her that if she ever lost him, she'd search until she could search no more, and/ or she'd lie down and howl until she expired. Meroo's world is Corey, and Corey's world is all the world itself.

STORY:
Meroo scanned the edges of the clearing. She saw only a few birds, so she lowered her nose, in a gesture of good will, and she gave a slight nod to little Corey, who came trotting back to her side.
"More
softly!", she urged, an ever so slight hint of warning in her graceful voice. The pup slowed his trot to a polite pad, pad, pad, but, a moment later, he yipped out loud, scampering away.
"Corey!" Her lovely, golden eyes widened, and she took a step forward, but the pup ignored her, so she padded after him; grasping him by the scruff of his neck, she shook him as harshly as she dared, looking up instantly, scanning the land for any sign of obvious intruders.
With a snarl, she set him down, and he turned his little head around, looking for all the world as though she'd just bitten him; his big, deep, red-brown eyes stared up at her defiantly, searingly, and she softened, falling to the ground, nuzzling his little face with hers, and ultimately rolling over onto her back, so that Corey could assume his favorite position.
The little pup brightened instantly, and he took full advantage of the situation, struggling to stay atop the larger wolf's chest, gnawing playfully on Meroo's left paw, so that she winced at the strength of her son's growing choppers.
"Corey!", she laughed, forgetting for a moment to check for danger. "Corey, stop
chewing on me! I am
not your
dinner, you know!" She licked the pup's adorable face, and then, all at once, a noise stopped her cold.
Her ears perked up, and, turning onto her side, she pushed Corey out of the way as she sat up, then stood, turning round, scanning the land once more with heavy, anticipatory breaths.
Little Corey yipped loudly, his little tail waving like a leaf in a storm, his chest moving from the rapid breathing that he was experiencing, due to the excitement of the moment. Against his mother's warnings, he dashed off, towards the most obvious entrance to the clearing, but Meroo caught him by the neck again, padding slowly, softly, and deliberately towards the center of the clearing.
This time, she set him down, turned him towards her, and set her most serious, scolding glare upon him, so that his eyes widened pleadingly.
"DANGER is out there, Corey! You
must learn to
mind me, or...what's to
become of you? You
must survive, but you
cannot do that unless you
mind me!"
The little pup's rich, dark eyes fell defiantly, slyly, and Meroo sank down onto all four paws, staring her son down until he looked at her.
"Do you understand?" She tried not to smile.
The little wolf son cocked his head to one side.
"Stay out of danger, Mother?"
"Yes, and..."
"M...mind you all the time?"
"Yes, and..." Her golden eyes finally smiled fully, and the baby wolf touched his nose to hers, but he said not a word.
"And I
love you,
Silly!", laughed Meroo, taking Corey's ear into her mouth playfully.
Suddenly, the wolf pup yipped, and his eyes widened. He panted and whined, and when he broke away from his mother's grasp, she turned...to see a stranger, a stranger who looked all too familiar. Were her eyes playing tricks on her? Was this him, or was this one of his relatives?
"Corey!", she shouted, but her voice sounded weak to her own ears, and when she stood, her breath caught in her throat, and her front legs nearly gave way. Slowly, cautiously, she padded silently across the clearing, lowering her head, pinning her ears back, and narrowing her glowing eyes, turning her head every so often, and ever so slightly, so that she could make certain that this new stranger was not going to harm her son.
