What happens when a four-year boy is attacked and killed by dogs? Well, in Romania, where such an event did happen not too long ago, it has resulted in a mass killing spree of dogs. Don't believe me? See for yourself.

As tragic as this is, it should also be pointed out that in many parts of the world dogs and other stray animals are scavengers, and therefore considered "unclean". (Compare to most Westerners' fear of rats and its origin.) The problem lies much deeper than the public being shown warped statistics; the statistics are simply being used to manipulate a fear and prejudice that has existed for generations.

Anyway, my point is this: don't only read this article and immediately cast judgements on Romania, which can easily be taken just as inflammatory as the statistics about dog attacks those in the Romanian communities are viewing. Try also doing research for the other side and analyzing what you find. Who knows? The results may surprise you, and grant you a deeper understanding on how you can address this issue. Let's be honest: debating on a forum only goes so far and often accomplishes very little. I'm not discouraging sharing how animals are being treated (or in this case, mistreated) in other parts of the world; quite the contrary, actually. However, articles such as these should be taken with a grain of salt until further evidence is presented from various perspectives. Otherwise, all that will most likely result will be flames hurled and something insensitive said, and said speaker looking rather foolish, thus contributing to the issue.

Remember, this probably lies within culture (possibly based around what was once sound reasoning and therefore harder to combat).

Now it appears some Turkish-Dutch representative has opposed a plan to make The Hague more dog-friendly, citing that keeping a dog is the equivalent of animal abuse. Is this guy stupid or what? Read the story at link below for details.

Er, do you have another website? One that doesn't focus on attacking Muslims?

Unfortunately, that's the only source I've been able to find in regards to that story.

It is? I get the feeling that it may be fabricated or heavily exaggerated if you can only find it on that website.

Actually, I just Googled The Hague Dog Ban and this was in there, too, along with several other links to more un-biased sites.
