I know! When did people think it a good idea to adopt out these characters. I mean, I think it's a fun game, but once it's done, it should be over done, and the pups should not be adopted out because, even though they are Balto related, they are most of the time either against Canon (JennaXSteele), physically impossible (AleuXDusty), or extremely controversial (KodiXAleu). Again, just more pointless characters to clutter up the character section...

Come to think of it, I have seen that before! Sakujo made fan pups for crack pairings, and put them up for adoption, BUT you had to change the parents if you adopted them xD

It happens on TLKS mostly. If you check the galleries, it's full of them. Crack pairings such as ZiraXSimba (I do have a ZiraXSimba character but it was made many years ago and it was a character that perfectly fit with the story he joined, same with a ScarXNala cub) or canon pairing like NalaXSimba or MufasaXSarabi. The idea is nice, I mean you can create many stories and you have a very strong relation with the story with the cub being an offspring of Canon or Semi Canon ( from the book) characters.
But if you think, the TLK chars don't have a very complicated design, which is good because lions have simple designs but it is bad because those fan cubs are coming out almost all the same, the only different thing is the eyes and maybe the fur colors but they all have the same shades, you can't really make a black or grey cub if the parents are, for example Simba and Nala xD Okay the first times but now it really is the new fashion of the moment on TLKS.
I do accept fan cubs or fan pups, they're made for fun and I have nothing against them. But this "Guess the parents" thing is getting out of control and ridiculous! :I

I must say, Saske, I agree with you on this one. I go on TLKS pretty much, actually it's the source I go on the most. And I've seen so many people doing this that I've lost count, it's like the thing's gone out of hand. And the fact that people don't even seem to realize, that some of the pairings they make don't make absolutely no sense, like uhh... Scar x Kiara. Really?! How is that even possible, after we see what happens to Scar in the end of TLK? I get the fancub thing, in fact, I do that myself too, but what I don't get is that people's galleries are full of adoptables, either random or the guess the parents-thing. It's like some people don't have anything else in their galleries, and that's something that worries me. People come to the site and create random, even sometimes completely plain and simple design character adoptables, or some of them are just copies of the official characters. Seriously, something needs to be done about this! Sorry if this seems a little harsh to someone, I just needed to speak my mind for once.

I forgot to say that I agree with this too. Even if they're well made, why should they stay in the galleries? Galleries are made for graphics and so Balto related works. Renders too nowadays *sighs* more coloured linearts than renders I should say...
Just to make an example, Catwhohas14tails made some adoptables time ago, DustyXRalph litter and some of her old chars that appeared in her fanfics. Those were well made adoptables but she used, like it should be, the Adoptables section, not her gallery. Or look at the lastest adoptables that Sakujo made, she didn't use her gallery but the Forum. Because, sorry if I'm repetitive, that's where adoptables belong.


That's another problem. That's why the last news by Moss was written, about the rule that says that every gallery must have graphics as first images and graphics made between the 49750967 linearts coloured sent. Problem is that it was already a rule but nobody was following it. Graphics for the 90% of the users means colouring a lineart with an official character's colour and send it. Or, to cheat on the ratio, they don't have anything on their gallery to be graphics but they feature the icons of the official characters in random images that have nothing to do with that character!
At least, moving back the Adoptables to the Forum would clean up a little the galleries.

Funny how the poll is saying one thing, but responses here are just the opposite.

I'm not assuming anything, but I think the poll is inaccurate. I think the people who are voting are the those who are the problem.

Just as a suggestion, but perhaps a re-vote should be put into place. Instead of adding a poll to the topic, put the poll IN the topic. That way we can see who is voting and why they chose that choice. I know that's not how votes work, but when it comes to Animation Source, we need to see who is voting.

I was thinking about that too. Everyone who commented agrees about moving back the Adoptables to their original Forum sections yet the pool is against that.
And then users complain about new decisions that were taken. If only few ones share their opinions, of course those few are chosen, if there are rules to change!
Of course commenting takes time, but at least give a small explanation of why you decided to vote that in the pool. So, I agree with what Mighty said.

I completely agree with this. People who are voting should be able to write a quick post to argue their point because, as far as I can see from JUST the posts, everyone agrees to ban adoptions from the image galleries and keep the adoption forum rules as they are. If someone disagrees, they need to argue. If not, then they obviously don't care enough.

I noticed things weren't matching up either, so I removed the poll as suggested. I hope this encourages more posts.

While slightly off topic this topic explains so much of why I quit modding... But now I'm getting off track before I even began.

My two cents: I don't like adoptables. When I was a noob I loved them, and now I have more characters than I'll EVER know what to do with. I actually don't mind the idea of them being source related though for reasons that Saske stated. Something like, they inspire fan made characters and fan related stories and/or fan art. THAT'S a good thing. It may not always directly involve official characters, but at least it's still in the same ball park, and may include any official characters. When you give members leave way to make adoptables of whoever though, we turn AS into a puppy mill. And that is what concerns me. I'd rather see more source related art/graphics than random adoptables, I don't care if they're following the rules. They're not why people come to the Sources. If they want adoptables, they should go to DA. In the long run, they're really pointless here when you have DA and their puppy mill clubs.
