So, I noticed a thing. People have apparently responded VERY adversely to the new "Sparkle/realistic" tag. I don't think we need to get rid of it all together, but I have a proposal for a little rename. I feel like instead of "Sparkledog/unrealistic," the tag ought to simply be "unrealistic." It isn't exactly super important, but the word "sparkle" isn't one received well in the semi-realistic character design community it seems. I feel like doing this will calm people down a bit, reduce the ways anons can troll the community untraced, and will probably reduce possible sparkle character problems. People obviously don't appreciate seeing the word "sparkle" on their characters, especially since they aren't really sparkly. People get angry, especially when they're mistagged: even when some people simply mean well, they might not have the proper knowledge of the real-life animal that they're tagging unrealistic. This goes for dogs, foxes, rabbits, horses, ect. - personally when I visited the Spirit Source I learned of new coats constantly, for example, and if you spend too much time around me, you'll learn that there are more coat colors in rabbits than you knew possible(I.e., if I created a harlequin rabbit, with the proper black-orange split face and body barring, I wouldn't blame you for marking it a sparkle, despite that being a real rabbit). Thus, well-meaning users may mistag a character by mistake - I've seen first hand how this riles people up.
Then there's trolls, who aren't well-meaning and want to rile people up. They mistag on purpose, and can't be tracked - heck, these could be other respected members with a grudge. As far as I know, they can't be caught, and they'd be able to bother and bully people who don't like seeing their character labeled sparkles.
The Sources get new users all the time, and hopefully will continue to grow! However, seeing the tag "sparkle" as an option(and "not X related," while we're at it) can be very confusing since it's against the rules. It may give the false impression that sparkle characters.
I feel like changing the tag simply to say "Unrealistic" would kind of help some of that. I don't claim to know how coding works, though, nor do I know if it's easy to change the tag name. It's just a thought.
